On a Sliding Monday

Another weekend down in 2014, but many remain for the year.  I hope your weekend went well, so what did you do?

We had an evening of ballroom, did errands related to the move, watched the Olympics, shoveled snow, played handbells on Sunday, and joined our dinner group for a fun evening around the theme of Board Games. We played a few games, drank good wine, and ate well … and all in the presence of good company. See for yourself!

  1. Goofy curling ad. :-)

Tuesday I will get out my guitar and play a bluesy love song for Melanie. That will evolve into Darwin day on Wednesday as I adapt to a slightly warmer temp outdoors. I will survive if I am fit.

  2. Ha, that was a funny ad, Frank! I’m missing all the Olympics, because I have no cable. It seems like there’s a lot of drama going on. What a nice dinner you had. What a great idea for entertaining! You’re having all the fun. It’s been raining all weekend here. Yay! But, it also feels good to lounge about inside. So, a pretty relaxed weekend for me.

  3. Frank, I forgot I sent you the link to that ad! Glad it was of use to you.

I don’t have a guitar to get out on Tuesday, but Tuesday is a young friend’s birthday and I’m giving her a ukelele. My contribution to a keeping a hipster a hipster.

  4. I went curling once – My curling iron didn’t look like that at all! Brrrrr!!
Your weekend life seemed rather exotic and interesting and it was very different to mine – which was rather quiet and painting focused.

  5. Absolutely Wonderful! – The Game/Food idea!!!

My tune for “Life: The Musical” is all picked out, if I can somehow beat the rest of your readers to the punch with it this Thursday at 9:30 pm.

Also warning you in advance to batten down your evolution views when a new theory comes your way this Wed. in observance of Darwin Day.

  6. Wow, the chef is impressive, but my favourite is the trivial pursuit cheesecake! I normally make cheese cake using a muffin tin, freezing them individually, else I would eat it far too quickly. Scrabble is a perennial favourite in our house.

Jello week, eh? Well, I will have to pull out my Jello recipe book from the 1970’s, it was my mother’s, and has the oddest recipes. I will pass on the one’s where jello is mixed with either chicken or veggies, and keep to the ones with fruit.

  7. Great post, Frank. Loved the board game dinner idea. Very creative! We went skiing on Thursday and Friday and came home during a blizzard on Saturday. Made it back okay. We’re enjoying the Olympics. Wow! That Downhill course was something!

  8. Our weekend was totally non-eventful, which is a change for us. We had been way too busy. But, boy, does that food look incredible! Wow. Now I’m hungry. Hope your week gets off to a good start.

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

  9. Here it snowed… and a lot. Yesterday I took an TCM dietetics’ course (traditional Chinese medicine)… if I want to apply as possible to the rules in order to remain in good health for the next 50 years! :-D
Seriously, it’s since 2007 I no longer use drugs but I let myself heal only with acupuncture. To make it more conscious, it is also necessary to pay attention to my diet according to the philosophical concept (concept of Qi – Energy). It’s not enough to be a vegetarian and apply myself to become vegan… Have a lovely week :-)c

  10. Great menu for your games night. Your hosts were very creative. Random acts of kindness sounds like wonderful idea. :) I’ll have to try and get in early on Thursday. Will give it some thought. Have a super week.

  11. Thanks for the heads-up on Darwin Day! I think perhaps the intention wasn’t including an African Spurred Tortoise, but our Darwin could use a celebration. Looking forward to Wednesday’s musical post!

  12. Thanks for the video … maybe that is the way the Swedes has to do it.
Playful and serious dinner you had – some creativity behind all that food. Excellent … looking forward to the Musical. Have to use the thinking cap again. Have a fantastic weekend now.. and keep on dancing.
