I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful weekend. How did you spend your time?
Although we were not zooming around at the speed of light, we were able to do some outdoor work, spend an evening on the ballroom floor. attend a church-group wine tasting, and celebrate Ice Cream Day.
I was busy enough to not be able to respond to the comments on Saturday’s Foghorn Leghorn tribute post. Therefore, in an attempt to catch up on the comments and reading your blogs, I’ll only post the mid-week Satire Bits and Friday’s Opinion in the Shorts. No decision yet on Saturday Morning Cartoon Classics.

Gorgeous Grandma Day–I wonder if next Wednesday will be Hot Grandpa Day. Surely there’s a Hallmark card for that…

Carrie,
I wonder who sponsors that day … I couldn’t find a Grandfather Day … but found Grandparents Day (I think Sept 7) … I hope your mother is doing better.

Thank you. She’s still having some problems, but it’s to be expected. She has a packed surgical wound that will take months to heal, so it’s been stressful for her. But she’s tough. Must be that German stock in her!

We used to have hot dog day every so often at my grade school, Frank. Parents would supply the cupcakes. It was a nice change of pace from our usual bag lunches, and I really appreciate the bag of potato chips that came extra. I thought that was a deft touch.
You might want to recheck the link to the chocolate massage video. Call me old school but I prefer eating chocolate to having it painted all over my body. The thought of smelling like a Hershey bar on feet is a turnoff, too. I’d fear attracting every hound and house fly within a five mile radius.

Lame,
Hot dogs and cupcakes is a true feast for kids! … but I would be willing to join in today!
Being Old School regarding chocolate is OK … after all, I imagine other exotic-substance massages are available.

There’s an interesting array of foodstuffs [and some strong alcohol] featured in the weeks celebrations – I’m guessing grandma won’t be so gorgeous after all that indulging!!

Pauline,
Is there a possibility that various indulgences is the secret behind grandma’s beauty? 😉

Now there’s a thought! I don’t know, but I’m willing to trial your theory. I’ll get back to you in a couple of years 🙂

I’m going to delight in a little flight of fancy and celebrate “Gorgeous Grandma” day. That humors me to no end, Frank! We spent this afternoon at the Grammy Museum again. I could go there weekly, but it’s a rare opportunity to find the time! That was my weekend treat! 🙂 I hope you have a great week to come, Frank.

Debra,
For Gorgeous Grandma Day, consider going to Ralph’s for some Graeters! Cheers to your time at the Grammy Museum – which (I think) would be very interesting! Hope you didn’t miss the lastest Saturday Morning cartoon.

I am having a massage on Wednesday. I have bursitis in my foot. I have to get it better before I head back to Italy in September.

From many fine choices this week, I’ve decided to celebrate “Everyone Deserves a Massage Week” in hopes that getting one will help my achy back (I still walked Stonelick Hills GC on Sat.), “Monkey Day” to mark this week planning to see “The Purge: Anarchy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” and “Vanilla Ice Cream Day” to support my long held belief that what this country needs is a really good vanilla ice cream cone.*
*Taken from Thomas Riley Marshall (March 14, 1854 – June 1, 1925), an American Democratic politician who served as the 28th Vice President of the United States (1913–1921) under Woodrow Wilson. Marshall, as President of the U.S. Senate during an unusually long winded debate, leaned over to one of his clerks and said, “What this country needs is more of this; what this country needs is more of that”. He then quipped, loudly enough for most of the chamber to hear, “What this country needs is a really good five-cent cigar”, which provoked laughter from a number of senators.

We’ll need that Get out of the Doghouse Day – Molly has a vet trip this afternoon – she won’t be happy about it…
Sound like you had a whirl of a weekend (Church group wine tasting?….assorted comments available…like ” I’m going to your church!”…and mom always said “You can go to the wine tasting with the group, but you’re still going to early service on Sunday morning” (or something like that…
Enjoy the week Frank – we all need to take a bit of time once in a while to live life….(except you get so darn behind around here). Cheers!

Mouse,
First of all, hope all went well with Molly’s trip to her doc.
Our church group is one of the longer-running groups at church … and (I think) we’ve structured it very well … and attendees also attending on Sunday is high … after all, this group isn’t a very late night crowd … plus some go to Saturday service before the event. Here’s a past post about the group. https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2013/01/16/on-a-church-wine-group/

I shall mention message week to my hubby. Knowing him though – he’ll probably turn his back thinking I should massage him – Yeah – right!
Outta’ the dog house day – no worries for Fenway – He’s never in the dog house – LOL
And – hug our kids day – ALWAYS 😉

Get out of the doghouse day, is that for men only or both sexes? I was kind of thinking men only, maybe someone could give out cards for a free pass on that day?
