On a Sliding Monday

Another weekend down in 2014, but many remain for the year.  I hope your weekend went well, so what did you do?

We had an evening of ballroom, did errands related to the move, watched the Olympics, shoveled snow, played handbells on Sunday, and joined our dinner group for a fun evening around the theme of Board Games. We played a few games, drank good wine, and ate well … and all in the presence of good company. See for yourself!

On Ode to Bubble Monday

Another weekend has gone into the memory bank, so how was yours?

Ours was lower key than normal. We had time on the ballroom floor, started Saturday by shoveling the new snow, stayed in that evening by watching Backdraft with good wine (and company), then Sunday afternoon we went to the movie theater for Philomena (thumbs up).

After a mild Sunday, temperatures will be dropping overnight to pave the way for blistering cold (low of -10 F, -23 C scheduled for Monday night/Tuesday morning). At least it’s only a 3-day blast, so Thursday starts the upswing.

Here are two choices to start your week, so watching one or both. Enjoy … and have a good week!

At the Time: The Musical – Prologue, Elyse disclosed that Ode to Joy was played at her wedding. Then, my research staff discovered this video from her wedding (and just in time for Tuesday)

.

With a toast to Bubble-Wrap Appreciation Day, here is a guy wasting his employer’s time and money.

On a Popping Monday

While a new week starts, some in the USA start with week with a holiday. How was your weekend?

Ours served as a getaway from some hectic times. Along with snow, Friday brought us two inspectors. Even with that, our weekend included ballroom dancing, a live production of Sound of Music, dinner, visiting family, and a few other things … and Saturday night’s snow fall cancelled a ballroom event!

My week starts with a slice of unknown because I’m unsure about the number of posts publish – but, I hope to conclude Time: The Musical with a prologue that will offer choices.

On Monday Style

Last weekend, those of us in the eastern USA were getting blasted by bitter cold. For us in Cincinnati, today was sunny and in the low 40s. What a difference a week makes!

We started the weekend expecting a low-key weekend. After time on the ballroom floor Friday night, we returned home to a message saying we have an offer on our house. YIKES! … we definitely weren’t prepared for that news.

Saturday involved errands, including a meeting with our realtor to develop a counter offer. Saturday night we stayed home and watched Jack Reacher.

Sunday morning was handbell time. Pavane is a slow piece with long notes, which makes it very vulnerable for a 14-member choir. Here’s a duet during the same piece. If that’s not enough, here’s a soloist … but it’s still a tricky song to place.

Shortly after lunch, our realtor called with the news that the buyers accepted our offer! So now we wait to see if the deal falls in place; plus time will tell how this affects may blogging routine. After all, demands have already taken a bite out of my visits.

How was you weekend? Tell us about it!

Celebrations for your week ahead.

  • (Week) Cuckoo Week, Dance Week, Letter Writing Week
  • (Mon) Clean Off Your Desk Day, Rubber Duckie Day, Coming of Age Day, Pubic Radio Broadcasting Day, Peach Melba Day
  • (Tues) Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day, Dress Up Your Pet Day, Poetry at Work Day, Organize Your Home Day
  • (Wed) Strawberry Ice Cream Day, Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice Day, Humanitarian Day
  • (Thurs) Appreciate a Dragon Day, Nothing Day, Fig Newton Day, Women in Blue Jeans Day, Get to Know Your Customers Day

Because it’s Cuckoo Week and Dancing Week, this is close enough to both. Enjoy and have a great week.

On a Cold Monday

Greetings from the changing weather in Cincinnati.

Although we just missed a major snow dump, a blast of bitter cold will grip us through Wednesday morning. After Sunday afternoon’s high of 44 F (6 C), change is happening with Monday’s forecast being a high of 3 F (-15 C) … and that will be in the morning as it will be falling during the day. From there, we are expecting a low of -9 F (-23 C) with wind chills of -30 F (-35 C) with more of the same on Tuesday. No, that is not normal Cincinnati weather!

Anyway, how was your weekend? What did you do? Ours included going to the movies for Saving Mr. Banks (which we enjoyed) and then watching the Hitchcock classic Rear Window at home.

With January being Soup Month, we celebrated with and enjoyed this Italian Wedding Soup recipe from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa).

After both of my college football teams lost their bowl games, the Cincinnati Bengals keep the longest streak in the NFL of not winning a playoff game continues at 23 years and counting. Cincinnati fans need not to worry because baseball season on the near horizon, and the Reds streak of not winning a playoff series is only 18 years. Oh the agony of it all!

Even though its good to return to the comfort of my normal posting cycle, the recent Exploring series was fun to do. Thanks for the positive feedback.

The final act of Time: The Musical is on the schedule for this week.  Curtain time is 9:30 pm (Eastern US) Wednesday with a Seasons theme.  So, get your songs ready with titles include season(s), fall, autumn, spring, summer, and winter. Beware – those words in compound-word form (such as springtime) are not acceptable.

Celebrations for your calendar!

  • (Week) Somebody-Will-Laugh-About-It Week (ends Wed), Folic Acid Awareness Week, 3-D Week
  • (Mon) Cuddle-Up Day, Thank God It’s Monday Day,
  • (Tues) I’m-Not-Going-to-Take-It-Anymore Day, Fruitcake Toss Day, Tempura Day, Harlem Globetrotter’s Day
  • (Wed) Argyle Day, Bubble Bath Day, Earth’s Rotation Day, English Toffee Day, Women’s Day, JoyGerm Day, Show-and-Tell-at-Work Day, War on Poverty Day, Happy Birthday Elvis
  • (Thurs) Balloon Ascension Day, Static Electricity Day, Apricot Day, Dance Day

Given the winter weather blasting much of the USA, let’s start the week with a wintertime chuckle. Thanks to Guapo for finding this one. Have a good week!

On a Monday Slide

Welcome back from another weekend! What happened at your end?

Yes, we worked some ballroom dance into what was actually a low-key weekend. Although we also attended a holiday dinner gathering of people who will be our new neighbors in a few months.

The holiday blog party was a big success. Thanks to all who attended, and the mingling that was happening was a big treat.

There is one BIG downside of doing that post … and I don’t mean big, but huge! I forgot two regulars here. Because I love both of their blogs and their visits/comments here,  here’s a special treat to White Lady in the Hood and Debra at Bagni di Lucca & Beyond.

Because my holiday posting schedule will be different, here are noteworthy celebrations for the rest of December.

  • (23rd) Festivus, Human Light Day,  Pfeffernuesse Day
  • (24th) Eggnog Day, Last Minute Shoppers Day
  • (25th) No L Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, It’s About Time Week begins
  • (26th) Day of Goodwill Day, Boxing Day, Whiner’s Day, Candy Cane Day, Coffee Percolator Day, Kwanzaa starts, BGSU bowl game
  • (27th) Fruitcake Day, Holocaust Remembrance Day
  • (28th) Chocolate Day, Card-Playing Day, Gone-to-Pot Day, Call-a-Friend Day, UC bowl game
  • (29th) Chocolate Day again, Tick-Tock Day, Pepper Pot Day, Relaxation Day
  • (30th) Bacon Day, Falling Needles Family Fest Day, Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Day, Bicarbonate of Soda day
  • (31st) One Voice Day, Make Up Your Mind Day, Dice Day, No Interruptions Day, Champagne Day

My posting schedule for remaining time in 2014 will be a bit different. The next post will feature my holiday gifts in videos, so I hope everyone stops by the treats. That post will go live on the 23rd (evening Eastern US) so it will be live for much of Christmas Eve to those ahead of me in time. After Christmas Day, I will have a series of light, enjoyable posts.

Here’s something to start your week. Many have (or will) spend time in malls and/or airports … and escalators is one thing these two venues may have in common. Let’s just say that I don’t recommend trying this.

Have a good rest of the week!
