Every news watcher has the favorite news channel and newscaster. Although I continue to maintain that bias, no matter the channel, is a given; yet the channel may be less biased than the one listening.
Although they are the most-watched news source on television, FOX News seems to get in fair share of negative publicity; yet, its followers proclaim it as the ultimate source. The FOX News slogan is Fair and Balanced, and I’m quite certain that the slogan does not refer to the amount of negative and positive comments it receives.
With this in mind, below are the top 10 reasons why I believe FOX news is Fair and Balanced.

Hey, Fox News ain’t all bad. They have a nice, big news crawl across the bottom of the screen, in nice contrasting colours, very readable for us old farts! 😀
You do realise, Frank, that if you watch Fox News and MSNBC, and bounce back and forth every 5 minutes or so, after about 3 hours you’ll be able to average out the REAL news! 😉
Or just get BBC America, and watch REAL news. :p

John,
Interestingly, I don’t get MSNBC on my viewing package, but if I did, I’m not sure how much I would tune in – although from what I seen (when I travel) or heard from others, Morning Joe may be a show I would enjoy. Thanks for commenting.

Great post, I am convinced.
Really this past week with those deadly Tornado’s I went back between the 3 Cable Networks, FOX had how evil Obama was 24/7. MSNBC had how evil the GOP and Fox was, meanwhile CNN reported on the Towns and the victims of Joplin.

Larry,
Going back and forth is always interesting, and will be even more so during an election. Meanwhile, in the evenings I still refer to watch one of the original big 3. Thanks for commenting.

LMAO!
The nightly news, no matter which network, is okay…But MSNBC and Fox both push opinion, although, MSNBC has a couple people who back their opinion up with research, and fact…I see that very rarely on FOX…
And CNN has become mostly garbage, relying on “iReporters” and playing “News Rolette” and using flashy tabloid graphics…
FOX, CNN, and MSNBC are more entertainment than anything else.

You’re correct about Fox News, however I agree with the comment that all three cable news networks are about entertainment. We have to trust the American public knows that when they cast their ballots.

Tim,
Ah ha … a key word … entertainment … thus drawing viewers. In other words, the cable news network use a different sauce to attract an audience! Thanks for sharing an interesting perspective.

Since G.W. Bush was president, journalism in this country has gone right the drain. You want news, like John Erickson said, ‘BBC America” and online, the Guardian.

Don,
Thanks for seconding John’s BBC America endorsement. Gotta love you opening line about our media. Thanks for commenting.

Don, for American news, you can try my hometown paper, the Chicago Tribune. They do lean somewhat left, but are usually not too blatant. For world news, try the Australian Broadcasting Corp. (www.abcnews.net.au) and Deutsche Welle (www.dw-world.de), which is also available on Link TV with DirecTV (not sure about Dish or various cable companies). For breaking news, and this one sounds strange, try The Buenos Aires Herald (yes, from Argentina!) at http://www.buenosairesherald.com.

Hey Frank!
Good one! in terms of conveying the message without any doubts being left to exactly how you feel…
Not sure if you may also be noticing a trend of late, but all of the cable networks are beginning to sound like predictable, broken records. Good post! Have a great week ahead.

Al,
Thanks for confirming that I achieved my message. 🙂 Meanwhile, your “predictable, broken records” take is a good one! Thanks for your insight.

As far as getting real news The big 3 is the best, I lean to NBC but all 3 really do a great job. I will give Fox one prop, Sheppard Smith’s Programs are pretty good and straight forward.

Larry,
I too lean to NBC for the evening news. Never tuned into Sheppard Smith, but thanks for the suggestion.

Bruce,
When I want to listen to talk in the car, NPR is one of the two I choose. Otherwise, I usually don’t tune in for the news. Nor do I watch the PBS news. Nothing against it, I just don’t … but maybe I should. Thanks for the comment.

BBC America is a tier above the one I now have on my satellite package. Oh well … my loss. thanks for its endorsement though.
In terms of topics, I posted all over – but I have a method to my madness. Please come back now. 🙂

Tuesdays: Usually political
Wednesday: Science and Theology
