On a Monday Morning Trek

Last week’s Monday Morning Entertainment featured The Muppets version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Knowing that the song is a favorite or many – and knowing that some regular visitors here enjoy Star Trek – so hey – why not combine the two ideas! Have a good week everyone.

  1. Frank, that was absolutely fantastic! I’ve never seen that before. I really loved the clip with the old McCoy from “Farpoint” and Scotty from “Relics” – my all time favourite episode. I always identified with Scotty – I could never picture myself on the bridge of a ship (wet navy or star), but I could always see myself deep in the engine room, up to my waist (head first) into the engines.
And was there a lot of Dr. Crusher clips in there, or was it just me? I mean, Marina Sirtis in a skintight one piece bathing suit IS a gorgeous sight (been there, seen that), but Gates McFadden was ALWAYS my third favourite Trek lady (my heart still belongs to Grace Lee Whitney, with Nichelle Nichols a close second). And yes, Gates did ALL her own dancing in the episode where she teaches Data to dance. A very talented lady, indeed!
    Stellar, Frank, positively stellar! πŸ˜€

    • John,
Oh my … you mean to tell me I found a Star Trek clip that you haven’t seen? WOW …. SUCCESS!!!! πŸ™‚ There were a lot of clips of Dr. Crusher, which is fine with me. Of course Seven of Nine and T’Pol were easy on the eyes. Bottom line – I’m glad you enjoyed this! As always, many thanks.

    • Oh, Frank, you need to understand I’m an old fart! :p Seriously, I did most of my conventioneering in the late 80s and early 90s. I’ve seen things like this video, but imagine trying to do this with a VCR and a cassette tape player for sources! While the editing effort required a lot more patience, the quality left a bit to be desired.
As to the ladies, well, DS9 was just starting to come together, Voyager was in the future, and Enterprise wasn’t even on the radar screen, so I never got to meet Jeri Ryan or Jolene Blalock. So I had to be content the ladies from The Original Series and Next Gen – no problem there! Some day I’ll have to tell you all about my overseas harem, the ladies from Doctor Who (not the current iteration) and Blakes 7. To hear a beautiful, prim, proper British lady belt out “What, a shit factory?”, sending an entire 4-star hotel bar into hysterics – ah, one of the fondest memories! And other, more….shall we say, “less public” moments. Yes, to be young, single, fairly well-off, and stupid! πŸ˜€
Good luck with the new job. “Hurry up and wait” – gotta be the Army or computers. Both are equally frustrating. Have a good one!

  2. I do watch (love seems a bit much but close!) Star Trek–and this is terrific. I have had a very long week full of paperwork and phone calls about my dad in a rehab center. I needed this tonight! Bless you.

    • Patti,
Whoever did this video was creative and did a good job. Interesting how well scenes matched the lyrics. Meanwhile, how everything is going better for your dad. BTW – I recently started a work project, and that has cut into my reading time. Just wanted you to know why I’ve been away. I will return! Thanks for commenting.

    • Nonnie,
I’m not a Trekkie, but watched many shows as my wife always watched them … but I just watched the show without immersing self into the series. Nonetheless, the video is a good one!

Project is a little slow right now. They rushed someone (me) in to do something they weren’t ready for. Listening to Pawlenty would be more exciting than today! Thanks for asking!

  3. Wow, that video was incredibly well done! Oh, and it makes me feel better that John is so familiar with all of those episodes. For I was starting to feel a little self-conscious because of how familiar all of them were to me.

    • Oh, who could forget the epic “rock out” in that delightful Pacer? (Actually, my brother-in-law had the Gremlin. The wife and I never got more creative than the Pinto/Vega “twins”!) Though I never spent enough time in Aurora to check out the locales from the movie. I wasted my summers a bit farther north, in Batavia (as I’ve mentioned). πŸ˜€

  4. I haven’t watched ST since I was a little girl. I need to drag it out and watch some episodes. I miss me some Jean-Luc Picard. = D
