I still have not watched a Republican debate. I would watch a debate without Romney, Perry, Cain, and Bachmann.
Earlier this week I listened to a good speech by John Huntsman.
I know Herman Cain is the latest champion of the Anybody-but-Mitt club. Read what a Republican economist says about Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan.
Reading local reaction to Kathleen Parker’s column on Sarah Palin not running has been interesting. For those who obviously did not get it, the column is about The Nincompoop, not Christians!
Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher filed to run for Congress. Just another reason to dislike Toledo – but don’t hold that against Tony Packo’s!
Here is one reason for the Occupy Wall Street movement: The risk-taking banks that helped create the economic funk – and without consequences for their actions.
Now that the Senate nixed President Obama’s job bill, the monkey is on Capitol Hill’s back. Oh sure, as if we can rely on them!
I remind Speaker Boehner that it is Week 40 of the Boehner-led House without a jobs bill. To quote Speaker Boehner, “Where are the jobs?”

My Sept 27th post about Science at Work get some interesting comments for a Villanova University faculty member. Click here to revisit the post.
Last week we took our first trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Maker’s Mark was our intended first stop, but the GPS took us to a lone house on a one-lane road.
Handbell season opened at last Sunday’s services with An Expression of Joy. If you enjoy handbell music, listen to it here and take notice of the different types of sounds bells create with different techniques.
Mormonism and Islam have this in common: A lack of knowledge by the majority of nonmembers fuels a load of misconceptions.
I recently heard an interesting presentation by the executive director of an Islamic relations organization. She was very good, but it was also interesting to listen to the audience.
The college conference shuffle is pathetic.
These must-see photos are from an amateur photographer in Norway, who simultaneously captured the Northern Lights and the Milky Way.
As a loyal watcher of Dancing with the Stars, the theme of this season seems to get the better dancers off the show.
It’s hard to believe, but Jesus Christ Superstar opened on Broadway forty years ago this week. So, I send you off into the weekend with a song from that classic – but without the words of Garrison Keillor first: Be well, do good works, and stay in touch.
How about Bachmanns comment about the 999 plan turned upside down being the 666 plan. I have to wonder if Cain was a white man would she make a comment like that.
As far as Jesus Christ Superstar goes in 1978 and again in 79 the local community college did a production of it, The lead came into my deli and I saw marks on his back (He was a surfer) I asked him about the marks and he told me about it, he and the cast did a wonderful job. he is a terrific singer I saw it both years

Larry,
I saw the Bachmann quote. Although I give her zero credibility, I liked the quip as she said “the devil is in the details.”. So it didn’t bother me. Meanwhile, I’m glad that my JCS mention sparked some good memories! Thanks for sharing.

I loved that quote – but being a cynic – I figured an aide must have written it for her and prepared her to say it. It’s way too smart to her to come up with.

I enjoyed listening to the handbell piece, “An Expression Of Joy,” by John A. Behnke. I think it’s based on a familiar hymn tune, but I can’t recall the name. I would like to hear more of Behnke’s compositions.

Tim,
Here’s a link to Behnke recordings. In jumping around, I heard many pieces jointly for choir, bells, and other instrumentation. However, handbell only tunes are in there too. Rhythmic Rip is a different yet interesting tune. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

To my fellow Ohioan: I love your blog, but I think I’ve told you that already! I’m glad I read this post AFTER I did my story because I know I would have inadvertantly plagerized it 🙂
I am a Christian and was not offended in the least by K. Parker’s article. She hit the nail on the head. Isn’t it amazing that the most bigoted, power hungry, money worshipping, anti-poor loving candidates claim to have heard God tell them to run for president? It makes one wonder who this god is that is speaking to them? It is not mine — that I can guarantee you.
All the best.

Delightful. The photos are phenomenal–and I love the nincompoop post–how did I miss that the first time around as well as the science exchange on 27 Sept. You keep me informed and thinking, well, smirking and pondering might be better, given the Palin article and Onion headlines–always great to get a laugh over the idiocy that is our world.

No question, the pics are spectacular. Meanwhile, I try to plug the original Nincompoop post most of the time I mention her. After all, everything as context! 🙂 In terms of the recent post, the comments from the Villanova faculty member surprised me … but it also brought a smile. As for The Onion – yes, everyone needs a laugh. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting.
