Pi – the subject of this comedy routine about different perspectives of Pi

Pilish is a writing style with lengths of consecutive words match the digits in Pi

Professor Frink proclaims (for a reason), Pi is exactly three in “Bye Bye Nerdie” episode in The Simpsons (season 12)

For the record, Magnum PI was not about Pi

In the movie, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Pi is the answer to the combination that will allow the Tablet of Akh-man-Ra to open the gates to the underworld.

Pi plus Pi = 2 Pi = Tau (and if you like this post, see The Hot Tau, which remains one of my favorite posts)

The Great Pyramid of Giza has a perimeter-to-height ratio of 2 Pi

What would Pi sound like if the values were put to music?

  1. Hi,
As I was reading your post, the first thing I thought of was the Great Pyramid of Egypt, and all of a sudden there it was. 🙂
I would of been a bit disappointed had it of have been left out, surly the most famous of the “Pi” messages. 😀
Great find in the video as well.
    A very interesting post.

    • Mobius,
Welcome first-time commenter. I appreciate that you have taken the time to visit and comment, and hope you return.

Although this video is a good one, personally I like the one on Tau better (linked in this post). Nonetheless, the video sparked the factoid search about Pi. Thanks again.

  3. A great post about π. I tried to find alternatives you hadn’t already figured out, but had to give up. But then I thought about the book: Life of Pi. Which unfortunately isn’t about π. So no I couldn’t add anything really. I watched Darren Aronofsky’s film some time ago. Quite a weird one, but interesting. You keep surprising me!

    • Otto,
This one was fun, especially once I figured out not to get carried away with formulas. Personally, I liked the music of Tau better than Pi. (Link on this post). Nonetheless, thanks for the kind words and for visiting.

Oh yes … and let me know! I forgot to look at the address to see if it was in the Italian section (and St Louis has a good one!) Thanks for being a regular here – and have a great rest of the day.

I was hoping you would see this post. BTW – I added your pizza suggestion to the post … and also found a different place in DC … with links to both. Thanks for the addition and for visiting.

    • Guapo,
This was a fun post to do. Let’s face it, everyone is familiar with pi in someway! I tagged the video many months ago, so it was a matter of getting the factoids together. Thanks for visiting.

  5. I’m listening to the Pi video as I write this. ..

Loved this, just like the other one. How interesting! “the number Lu Chao holds the Guiness World Record for spending 24 hours and 4 minutes to recite Pi to the 67,890 decimal space” totally blew me away though – I mean, there are some craaaazy people out there…!

Magnum PI wasn’t about pi – oh Frank, love your humour & your intelligence. I truly don’t believe there’s another blog out there quite like yours.

    Love this stuff!

    • Eyes,
Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks for the kind words. Actually, the idea for this one came after the link below. The Magnum PI is aspect is my style of humor … so is discovering some goofy record as the one by Lu Chao. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around.

Meanwhile, you will like this one!
