Today is the one day that many non-Irish wear green, drink green beer, attend St. Patrick’s Day parties, and maybe attend parade dedicated to Ireland’s patron saint. For those planning to celebrate, enjoy the event, and be safe.
FYI: A popular Cincinnati institution is serving green spaghetti today!
Although I imagine green will work into our day, our heritages of Italian and Swedish-German will temper the day. On the other hand, today we celebrate a birthday of the woman I love – my beautiful and wonderful wife.
When she was growing up, I’m sure she received more than her share of green birthday cards. Since those early days, she’s received non-green birthday cards, e-cards, and birthday greetings via Facebook; but today, she receives her first-ever blog post dedicated to her on her actual birthday … and hopefully greetings from bloggers.
Regular readers realize my wife and I enjoy ballroom dancing. Although others say we dance well and encourage us to compete and participate in shows, we stick to social dancing. Because waltz is one of favorite dances, here’s a video I know she will enjoy – a waltz from the Blackpool Professional Ballroom Championships (2010).
Happy Birthday to my long-time friend and love …the other angle, my supplementary and complementary angle. How about green spaghetti for lunch?
Happy St Pat’s to you Frank, and a very Happy Birthday to the Mrs! This is a very sweet post, by the way!
Oh… but I’ll pass on the green spaghetti….

Frank, happy St. Patrick’s to you and Happy Birthday to your beloved spousal unit. Dempsey, being about as Irish as it gets belies a genetic connection to the old sod. Somewhere along the line, some Cherokee entered the mix and we are now an American amalgamation of subsequent donors to the soup of genes. It’s still a fun day!

Wow, you and your wife do the ballroom dancing thing. That is cool. It looks like so much fun. Over here, if we tried, the divorce attorneys would probably have to get involved. Woman at work said she tried with her husband and it was the most stressful thing ever in their relationship. So happy fun to you. We are having 80 degrees for St. Pat’s day, a record for Wisconsin. Let everyone be lucky today!

Randel,
The ballroom has its stressful moments, but we’ve been able weather the occasional storms. Ballroom is a lead-and-follow situation. When a couple first starts, the female has to follow a male who doesn’t know how to lead, which is tough for all. Then there is also the situation when the female doesn’t allow the male to lead, which is another whole dynamic. So I imagine that many issues may boil down to control. Once the couple is on the same page, the male must concentrate on subtle leads and the female must turn into the subtlety. Thanks for visiting and commenting … and I’m glad to here that the early spring is also in Wisconsin!

We don’t know those pivot turns in a series, but we tried this morning, and had some success. Being a motion sickness person, I can’t do too many of them … but we’ll try again. Many thanks for the visit, your kind words, and best wishes.

Happy Birthday to your wife and Happy St. Pat’s day to both of you. I would wish you both the luck of the Irish, but I always feel that that is wishing someone bad luck — the Irish haven’t always had the best of it! Of course, we do survive the bad with humor, so it’s not all bad!

How lovely, Frank. A very, very happy birthday to your dear wife…I love your referral to her as your “complementary angle”–that’s one of the best things to be said of a partner in life! I didn’t know about your ballroom dancing! What a great activity…art! My husband and I, not proficient at all, took about a year’s lessons a while ago in preparation for our daughter’s wedding. We were only going to take a few and we got hooked! It was more fun, and we met the nicest people. I’m afraid we don’t get out to practice much…but I so admire those who do. Thanks for sharing that piece. And green spaghetti sounds fun, but whatever it is you do, sharing the day with someone you love and making them feel special on their birthday is the best. You know how I feel about birthdays! 🙂 Debra

Debra,
Although I’ve done ballroom-related posts, I work it into other posts —- especially on Mondays if I mention the weekend. Now this won’t surprise you, yep — Ballroom is listed as a Category in the sidebar.
Many thanks for sharing your ballroom journey. Yep – one has to practice and just dance to be able to progress because simply going from lesson to lesson won’t work. It’s been interesting watching the dancing journey of different people because everybody is different.
The green spaghetti was fine … and as my wife said, So Cincinnati. I have an idea of working into a future post.
Meanwhile, thanks for visiting and sharing a birthday greeting from SoCal!

In the US, St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate. Not in a religious sense, but with a sense of fellowship with others – hence the party atmosphere around many celebrations. Thanks for commenting!

Well, shoot, now I’m glad I managed to sign in today! A very special Happy Birthday to the Right Angle! 😀 And a Happy St. Patty’s Day to you both. Once again, I’ve been a good boy, and refrained from crashing any Irish bars wearing only orange. 😉 Though it is FAR easier to resist the temptation here in the middle of nowhere, than it was just a few miles away from the homer of Chicago’s infamous South Side Irish!
