For a Tuesday edition of Monday Morning Entertainment, I hope everyone had a safe weekend. Did you take some time to reflect and remember military veterans?
The three-day holiday weekend in Cincinnati has been hot and muggy. Nonetheless, our weekend included a variety of events, along with some relaxation to stay cool. Here’s our weekend through images (unfortunately they were done quickly). How was yours?
Have you ever tried solving a Rubik’s cube? Is it a challenge or a frustration? To all puzzle solvers, this quick entertainment will get your attention. Have a good week.
Nope. What with getting out my big 48-star flag to display, plus putting out the 48-star AND 50-star small yard flags both Sunday and Monday, I can’t say I had any time to reflect on our vets. 😉
I always found the Rubik’s cube too easy. just a few quick pries with your screwdriver, and boom – it’s solved.
And I don’t want everything checked. Striped, maybe, even polka-dotted, but no checks. They make me look fat. Well, fatter. 😀

John,
Happy to say I wasn’t drinking anything when I read this because liquid is not good for laptops. Did you take you tank for a spin? Thanks for commenting.

Haven’t gotten a tank – yet. Closest thing is the wife’s wagon, currently down with a broken left-front suspension. I could USE a tank to survive the pavement quality around here!

John … this is perfect for you.

Never got a chance to drive one – I don’t fit in most driver’s seats. Have ridden shotgun in a Jeep and a 2 1/2 ton truck, as “vehicle commander” in a Brit scout car (armoured 4×4) while in my Canadian uniform, and rode on both US and German halftracks. ‘Course, nothing ground-bound can EVER compare with being in the cockpit of a B-17. Armour is cool, but air has always been my first love. 🙂
Now, if I could just find a slightly used P-38 for something less than a few million dollars…. 😉

Nice photos, but the guy with the rubik’s cube is a freak.
Btw, have you tried the Bedlam Cube?

Fasab,
I have not heard of Bedlam Cube …. but will look into it, but not to own. Thanks for commenting.

Here’s wikipedia’s take on it. There are lots of solutions, and it looks easy, but it’s not.

Debra,
I remember when they first came out – but when it comes to problem-solving puzzles, I’m persistent … but as you say – put it down, walk away, and then return later. 🙂 Thanks for visiting and commenting.

I’m not very good at rubics cube. I could move the little sticker dots but that would be cheating. I like all the pictures of your weekend. The waterfall of bright colors that’s really cool. Looks like you had a nice weekend. :+)

Starla,
It was a good weekend with a good mix of activities. Do you recall when I mentioned going to a new city park along the river, but wanting to return at night? Thanks for visiting.

I do remember you saying that it must have been wonderful. I bet the colors and water looked great at night. Cool photo!

Being very close to the stadium is one of the reasons we went to the night game.

I love the photos of the Great American Ballpark. My daughter, Maggie, and I are on a mission to visit every baseball stadium and last summer we visited Cincinnati’s. It was one of the best we’ve every been to, not to mention the most affordable. We actually bought tickets that were $5 full price! And the view was awesome, overlooking the Ohio River.
Ours was a quiet but restfull Memorial Day weekend. Took the dogs out for a hike in the woods, but sadly I forgot my camera. Next time.
Thanks for the post!

Budget,
Glad you had a good visit to Cincinnati. I enjoy sitting in the upper deck with the view of the river. On this night, there was a lot of boating activity. Plus on this night, a Reds win! The fountains are in a just-opened park that starts very close to the stadium. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Les,
With numerous music events, Reds baseball, and normal city stuff, Cincinnati is a good place this summer. Besides, there is also a lot of other things not that far away. On the down side, the heat and humidity! Thanks for commenting.

Impressive Video embed in your blog. I like the baseball stadium pictures, and see Coke is a sponsor. That is my favorite soda. I am a Cards fan, so the Reds on top is unsettling.

Randel,
Interestingly, I marvel at the number of ads one can see from a seat. I think on that one, just from my seat I could see over 40 ads! … including the Coke own by the scoreboard. Meanwhile, I know the Reds are in first, but the Cards are close … plus the Reds are in Pittsburgh (Pirates usually win). So don’t fret yet. Go Reds!

Sounds like you had a great long weekend, Frank! We have a former student who is a national champion in solving Rubick cubes – he attributes it to hours of practice (now I know why he didn’t always have his homework done!)

Lynn,
Wow … association with a former national champion for Rubik’s Cube is quite the honor … and something that not everyone can say. Hmmmm … but now I can mention it as a 2 degree separation … or would that be one? (However the number system works for that). Thanks for visiting.

Managed to get some time to sit quietly and remember the soliders.
Other than that, an average weekend.
Have to go with John on the cube – it’s all about the screwdriver.
Sure, there are those that just like to swap the stickers, but where’s the skill in that, I ask you? 😉

I love word puzzles, but I could never solve the Rubik’s! My step-son had me convinced he’d solved it…I’m so gullible. It didn’t occur to me until he confessed that the plastic colored pieces could be removed!
I did have a good opportunity to reflect on Memorial Day. It was a great day to think! I spent the whole day working in the yard and listening to the radio…we were treated to a great fly-over of vintage WW II planes…put me in the right mood! Debra
