On 1000

Good Morning North, Central, and South America! Good Afternoon Europe and Africa! Good Evening Asia, Australia, and New Zealand! Welcome to my 1000th post!

For the next 36-hours, please take the time to comment, state where you are from, say something about your blog, interact with my guests here and on my sidebar, listen to music, and enjoy the food and beverages. Besides, I may get some surprise guests during the event. In other words, celebrate the occasion, and stop by more than once.

A Few Factoids

  • Started on August 28, 2008 as a politics and sports; needless to say, topics have expanded
  • At the time of this post, 1000 posts on 44 categories for 269 followers and 92, 834 visits that provided about half of the 14,189 comments … and never Freshly Pressed
  • Yes – My name is Frank
  • A Frank Angle means “An Honest Opinion”
  • First used “On” the post title in post 35, but started using it more regularly around post 90

When I first started, I had no clue about how long this would last. After four years and 1000 posts, I remain in awe of what other bloggers do, and am ever grateful for those who visit what I call “my little corner of the world.” Given my longevity, my stats are well below many, but if nothing else, I’ve persevered and enjoy myself.

Thanks to Tim, a local friend whose discussions actually sparked this blog.

Thanks to my early commenters as Mo, Beeze, Chris, David, Ryan, Maxi, Frag, Larry, and Joe. You helped me learn and establish my presence. Their links are in the Pioneers section of the sidebar links.

Thanks to all the visitors through the years and those who take the time to comment. You make this a fun and respectful place.

Thanks to the many bloggers I visit who provide opportunities for smiles, laughs, inspiration, thoughts, and learning.

Thanks to the many who demonstrate that goodness is throughout the world.

Special thanks to the one who is my wife, my friend, my love, and my dancing partner – for enduring – and she reads and occasionally comments as the Right Angle.

Thank you WordPress.

Thanks to my party team!

Before Guapo takes over, here’s some tunes to start the party! Thank you everyone!

I come from Ontario, and live in a small town close to the border of Detroit and I have been following you now for just a few months–but really enjoy your take on the world–and the fact that you try to entertain us as well as inform us. I am glad I found this blog, and enjoy the rapport we have. Congrats and keep posting!

  4. Congrats Frank on the milestone!

It takes a lot of persistence in blogging to reach that number considering the lives many of us have outside of it as well as it being easy to burn out from it. Although I don’t stop by as often for many reasons mainly my work/travel schedule, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re one of the good guys in blogging as well as quite possibly the most objective. Objective people are hard to come by especially with the topics you discuss on here! LOL!

I like that you pointed out that you persevered and enjoy yourself rather than focus on your site’s stats. The fact you still have many of the same readers from about when you started and have built some more over the years says enough.

Thanks for the continued support despite me being inactive of late and for listing me as a pioneer on this site. I appreciate it man!

Continue to do what you do!

P.S. I wouldn’t mind the Reds making the World Series! I hope to get back there. If I do, I’ll make sure we meet up this time around. I’m gonna be doing a big social media/wrestling post soon which the idea came from that project I worked on in Cincy.

I think you have way more than your share of common sense,.

Me, well, my blog is http://fiftyfourandahalf.com/, a mishmash of humor, politics, political humor and whatever happens to make me laugh or tick me off when I’m near a computer. And I appreciate that Frank has been a follower for much of my 1+ year (and sadly only about 150 posts).

It might not have been so bad if Elsie wasn’t such an ugly name or if Elsie the Cow wasn’t the Borden spokes-cow in my neck of the woods growing up.

  16. Hi there, Frank, and congratulations on your steadfast blogging. I’m always ready to enjoy a party with friends… and this one is a first for me. I don’t think I’ve heard much music like this. I am Shimon, from the city of Jerusalem, Israel. I know nothing of sports, and only a very little about American politics, but have found common interests with Frank. From the first, I was intimidated by Frank’s request at the top of his comments section, insisting that the comment be respectful. It was never clear to me what was expected, and what would be considered disrespectful. I’m a drinking man, and my favorite in America is Jack Daniels. I’m about to check the bar to see if there’s any. I’m sure it’ll be nice to meet some of Frank’s friends, and especially his wife and dancing partner. I loved the dancing dog, by the way…

You are a true pleasure and I appreciate your presence … and enjoyment of the dancing dog. 🙂

  28. Hey! Since everybody seems to have deserted me, here are some facts about today, to help Frank celebrate:
Agatha Christie, Fay Wray (of the original King Kong movie), and Creighton Abrams, who led the relief of Bastogne in December of 1944 and for whom the current Army tank is named, were all born today. Today is also “Battle Of Britain” day in the K, the day in 1940 when the greatest number of German aircraft were shot down during the Blitz. And HMS Beagle, Charles Darwin’s ship, reached the Galapagos Island. (That last one is dedicated to Beaglezmom and the boys. ah-WOO-roof! 😀 )

Did you know that it was your blog roll that I began to count on to find other interesting blogs when I was a newbie to the blogosphere? I still insist that you are a most creative blogger – your ability to put together fascinating posts and bring others together for a song or a laugh or some food for thought is a true gift.

In effort to skip the formalities, I’m afraid that John didn’t introduce himself. He seems a little abrupt, but certainly has a way of getting results. And I guess he doesn’t much care for excess foolery.
I’m from North West Arkansas. Hog country. I travel all over the Midwest, inspecting water towers.
That is how I earn my keep, but it’s also something that I greatly enjoy.

I’ve read all the comments (such a testimony to your venerated place in the blogosphere), and the one I agree with the most is your generosity to other bloggers–especially to me. The first time you commented and listed me as one of your favorite blogs, I went through the house screaming in delight. WW thought I had finally lost my mind (he’s been on the lookout for that event for some time now). Because of your graciousness, others dared to dip their toe in the scary waters of my blog land and they brought friends. Thank you, my dear friend.

I’ve learned so much from you (how not to let nincompoops get under my skin), and how to write for the shear joy of communcating regardless of the numbers or the dubious “freshly pressed” status. I’ve also become a bell choir fan, and I’m trying to drag WW into a ballroom dancing class!
