The last month of 2012 started this weekend, and now we start the first full week of a typically busy month. So hey – how was your weekend?
Cincinnati had unusually great weather for this time of year, so a good day for some yard work – especially because Sunday brought us rain and cooler temperatures – which, of course, brought down a few more leaves.
We also got some ballroom time and some R&R. The handbell event was OK because we had an easy-to-please audience.
Here’s an interesting Wow moment. My Saturday post honored a friend who died a year ago … and then Saturday afternoon, we received a holiday open house invitation from her husband and daughter. Just another sign that they are doing well.
I still have a few days of project work, so my surfing time will be limited – but I’ll be back. Because we’re starting a new week in a new month, let’s enjoy Salute to a New Beginning from the United States Army Herald Trumpets. Have a good week – and may it bring some successes.
To the week ahead of us all!…….Salut

It looks like your good weather is heading east. I spent Saturday and this morning working on the Manhattan Project before going to the theater and having dinner with a friend where we pounded a nice Pinot Noir from Chile (but I don’t recall the name; the vintage was 2010). Now I feel very sleepy and I’m not wild about returning to The Grind tomorrow.

Great weather up our way, too. Rainy but reasonably warm, and I think it’s supposed to be 61 tomorrow. Woohoo, I’ll take it!

I love those trumpets, Frank! And the drums themselves were beautiful works of art. It’s really nice to hear that you’ve been invited to a holiday party at your friends’ home. I hope he read the beautiful tribute you shared this weekend. He’d be pleased to know how much you and your wife continue to care. And now many, many strangers to him, but part of the human family, care, too. I hope your project continues to go well and you have a good week. Yes indeed…it’s going to be a busy week that brings on the rest of a very busy month!

Debra,
Woo hoo! Someone watched the trumpets and drums. Although short, glad you enjoyed it.
We’re looking for to going to the gathering. He told me yesterday how it came about, which was great … so we were happy to get the invite. I told him about the Saturday tribute, and he nodded and said he stop by … he also saw the original one. Meanwhile, don’t forget to slow down and breathe! 🙂 Thanks for commenting.

It sounds like you had a lovely weekend and that’s so great that your friend’s husband invited you over to honour his wife’s passing. It must be such a hard journey but even more difficult if you can’t do it with friends xx

He’s worked at his journey … although not that he hasn’t struggled. But time is a wonderful healing … but the party is a holiday gathering!!! But, it wouldn’t surprise me that she works her way into the event. After all, that’s part of his healing process. Thanks for commenting.

Hope your projects go well.

The weather has been stunningly warm 80 miles south of you in Lexington, as well. Though, is kind of bizarre for the first week of December. Good luck with your project this week, Frank.

Yes, it’s December and 2012 is coming to an end. Went faster that ever I think, but I’ll be glad to get rid of it, the last few months have been a bit of a grind. Looking forward to 2013 though!
PS: I wanted to do a my version of your video, but I found I couldn’t trump it 😦

Glad to hear your friend’s family are doing well. A loss of a loved one around the holidays really stinks, with all the festivities only serving as a wrenching reminder.
Enjoying the warm weather for a number of reasons – no fireplace needed, no humidifiers roaring away sucking up electricity, no schlepping water to various humidifiers around the house. Now if we could actually get some worthwhile rain out of these grey skies!
Have a good week!

John E,
Rain totals since October are lower in this corner of our state … after all, we got very little help from Sandy. Hope the military trumpets surprised you! Thanks for stopping by.

I’m sorry, the music’s gonna have to wait. They’re doing something with blown-in insulation at the church across the street, and right now, I feel like I’m sitting inside a giant gas-powered generator! So much for quiet small-town life….

Yuk … meanwhile, given the military tie, you’ll have to return when the quietness returns.
