Purpose of this Foolishness
As we celebrate his birth today
Many of us have something to say.
He danced naked on a bar
And drove for a sandwich from afar,
So many cheers to El Guapo with a thunderous hooray.
Happy birthday to a one of the blogosphere’s good guys – the master of Friday Foolishness – El Guapo! For your birthday, I sense you would enjoy this ride.

You know Frank, it felt quite odd writing the English with the Finnish! Hullutus and älyttömyys are also alternatives, although typeryys really captures the spirit much better. You nailed it 🙂

I’m glad the online translator picked the correct word … especially with one of the world’s most-difficult languages! Meanwhile, glad I now know that your Gravatar is the Sibelius monument. BTW – I received wonderful comments about the two choral versions of Finlandia on my Helsinki post … even the one that I presume is sung in Finnish. https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/on-helsinki/ 🙂

I’ll get to Helsinki yet! I started on Amsterdam and that’s as far as I got 🙂 (one of my all time favourite cities – even in winter!)
I was listening to Finlandia yesterday, it really is an amazing piece.

An odd note: Finlandia served as the music for the first alma mater where I graduated from college … eventually replaced by an a song written just for the school.

and was featured in one of the Die Hard movies (second from memory…) I hope the song written for the school maintained the same type of feeling.

Here in the states, I assure you that the alma mater was probably in the feeling of your great anthem. I never heard it there and actually accidentally stumbled across that tidbit, but I’m confident with the statement.

What a foolish post. I must say that I’ll be trying to work ‘flapdoodle’ into conversations at all available opportunities from now on, what a great word! An as for the Lone Ranger, what was he thinking about all those years hanging around with a fool? Liked hearing a bit of Van the Man, but if you don’t mind I’ll give flyboarding a miss. Well done!
