I imagine the major shopping areas were crazy this week – but I wouldn’t know because I stayed away from them!
We had a good weekend and hope yours was productive and fun. Friday started with a flurry as we went to our friend’s home for a holiday party. He’s the one whose wife passed away a year ago – and I must say – he not only did great, but his home was alive with friends and neighbors!
We also had some time to be at our dance studio, plus went to the annual ballroom dance holiday ball in the ballroom at historical Cincinnati Music Hall (past post).
If this week goes as planned, I’ll post everyday. Plus, I have to prepare for my holiday party on Christmas Eve. Of course, everyone is invited, so bring a friend! It will start early with hopes that the Aussies will attend.
Some of you may be looking for holiday gift ideas. Besides The Onion’s wonderful collection for kids, the home, and the one who has everything, this video will give you even more ideas. Enjoy … and have a wonderful week.
It’s been an … interesting weekend. Being a minority is somewhat new to me, being a fat, old, middle class white male, but the challenge has brought brought some reflection, some thinking about things I should have considered all along, and the melancholy (and yet also oddly freeing) sharing of information with friends and fellow bloggers. And one VERY positive thing – that the groups of bloggers I’ve fll in with, are both highly intelligent and very caring folk – our host included. And I am VERY lucky to have found you all. Not to get TOO mushy, but thanks to all for listening to what I’ve had to say, and respecting my right to do so, even when you’ve disagreed. I love y’all, honestly.
And I plan a few posts too, part two of my “War vs. Christmas” pair, and a post-Mayan-apocalypse one, providing we all survive. If we don’t, let me know so I can change the contents, okay? 😉
Have a VERY good week, Frank – and everybody else, too! 🙂

John,
Alright … did you have an extra bowl of melancholy today? Better yet, the Melancholy-Os are getting mushy!
I too, am fortunate to find many bloggers that are nice, welcoming, thoughtful, funny, informative, witty, caring, positive, funny, caring, and countless other adjectives … and you are on that list. Looking forward to your posts this week! Thanks for the kind words.

Oh, you know me, Frank – can’t keep a good lunatic down very long! (Well, they’ve tried, but I know how to chew through the straps – and how to pick locks with my toes.) 😀

Frank,
Are you trying to tell me that Christmas has something to do with consumerism?

Le Clown,
Absolutely not … after all, how would anyone get such a ridiculous idea about humanity. After all, there’s not much evidence to support that notion! Thanks for commenting …. PS: let me know if Facebook on Tape is available at a store in Montreal.

I need some beddy bye socks for sleepy feetsies! Who wouldn’t want those after hours of dancing, ya know?! 😉 Funny, funny video Frank! Thanks for the morning laugh! Btw, I haven’t shopped yet. I plan to do all that this weekend! Wish me luck! 😛

Do you compete in ballroom dancing?

Carie,
LOL … absolutely not. We do ballroom for the fun and social, definitely not for the stress. However, more power to those that do! Thanks for asking.

I want to hear more about the dancing. Ballroom dancing? Swing dancing? Lindy Hop? The capt and I love to dance. He’s a better dancer than I am and then we fight cos I always want to lead, ha ha! All that ballet training, ya know.

Seashells,
We participate in ballroom for fun & something to do together – thus no competitions or shows. Ballroom involves many dances. Lindy is one, better we don’t do that one or it’s cousin – Jive. We like both east coast and west coast swing. Other spot dances include cha cha, rumba, salsa, bolero, and hustle …. traveling dancing include waltz, fox trot, tango, and quick step. I’m sure I’ve left out other dances, but you get the idea. Yes, we take lessons and try to get out once a week. BTW – see Category > Ballroom in the sidebar as I have ballroom-specific posts! Thanks for asking … and yes, you aren’t the only female who wants to lead on the ballroom floor.

Hi,
Loved the video. 🙂
Finished the Xmas shopping except for the food which I will get when it is closer to Xmas, I actually done all my Xmas shopping early last month, how lucky was that. 😀
Just finished writing out all the Chrissy cards and managed to get them posted yesterday. It is lovely to go to the letter box for a change and have something other than bills waiting for you. 🙂

Hope to finish my cards today. I’ve always enjoyed receiving cards, but sadly, it seems fewer are doing that every year.
Thanks for stopping by … and I hope all continues to improve! I hope you can stop by on Christmas Eve as I’m posting early for the Aussies!

I agree about the Chrissy cards, we seem to get a lot of E Cards, but thank goodness we still get Xmas Cards in the letter box, they look lovely hanging along the wall. 🙂
Will do my best to come to the party. 😀

We have a silver string line, that goes across the wall and the cards are put on with little Xmas pegs shaped like Xmas trees.
