Sunday delivered a beautiful day well in the 60s in Cincinnati. With rain on the way for Sunday night into Monday, the week ahead looks to be cool. How was your weekend?
No ballroom dance for us this weekend, but we’re not whining because it was a wine weekend. Friday night we attended the Grand Tasting at the Cincinnati Wine Festival, and then Saturday night, our church wine group celebrated wines from Australia and New Zealand.
After all that wine and losing an hour due to daily savings time’s spring forward, our handbell choir successfully played a beautiful song Sunday morning. The song delivered the many moods of its title – Compassion – but I’ll save access to a recording of this wonderful piece for later in the week.
Hooray – my project is just about done, so I’m planning of full week of posts that will include satire, shorts, cartoons, and more. Besides, I’ve also started prowling around the blogs. Meanwhile, here’s a hint for an upcoming post – start thinking of songs that have “time” in their title. Just hold that thought.

There is a lot of Aussie wine available in the US, but more is from the big producers. My favorite was Penfold’s shiraz, I believe Bin 128. Big & Bold! Matua Sauvignon Blanc from NZ was quite refreshing.

Oh no, Frank. I have one of those memories for music–I hear it once I don’t forget it. I am afraid of what I’ll be singing at work tomorrow! This was hysterical. Who thinks to take an interview like Roker’s and create a video like this. Too funny, even if I won’t be able to get it out of my head. The body needs 2-3 weeks to adjust to time changes, but “Spring forward” is always difficult. Glad you enjoyed the fun at Mr. Roker’s expense. (He’s a popular weatherman on NBC’s Today shows.)

Regarding the time change, sometime during President Bush’s administration, they extended DST here … thus it starts earlier and goes longer. Too early for my tastes! At the Wine Festival, I had wines from both the Old and New World … I like Italian wines … but mainly had New World ones.

Of the Old World Wines, I prefer wines from Italy and Spain over France as their tastes are more suitable to my palate. Love ports … but other reds from Portugal are pleasant surprises. As noted – I prefer reds over whites.

Fabulous weekend. WW and I spent some time wine tasting ourselves. The tasting featured “new to old” which we mistakeningly thought meant from New Zealand/Australia (wines we love, by the way) to France. But the dude must have had a contract with New York State and Virginia. The stuff was pretty mediocre. Thought of you when we tried a couple of Pinot Noirs which weren’t up to par at all (ever taste a wine with absolutely no taste?), but we couldn’t convince the guy who was leading the tasting that Pinot Noir’s from Virginia just don’t hold their stuff. But it was still loads of fun. Still trying to get WW to take dance lessons! 🙂 Hoping to see you back in full swing again. Take care.

I’m sure you had a wonderful weekend. As you know, Pinot Noirs are wonderfully subtle and sophisticated. No way pinots from those states hold up to those from California, Oregon, and Burgundy … although I will give credit to Afton Mountain (Virginia) for a pinot I had there. Keep working on WW!
