The Story
Time – The Musical is an original A Frank Angle production featuring songs about time.
Program (Past posts)
Act 1: Time
Act 3
Act 3 only features songs with Year(s) in the title; but the challenge for attendees is no duplicates.
Production Note
It has come to my attention that past acts have crashed browsers. Please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line. The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video. I will try to establish a pattern to follow in the first few comments.
Announcement
Ladies and gentlemen, to launch Act 3, a grand AFA welcome and a blast from my past, it’s The Grass Roots with I’d Wait a Million Years.
One of my fave groups… Dr. Hook with Years from Now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMwqRSCPOjI&w=560&h=315

Hey Spiced,
Interesting song … but the theme is Year or Years, not hour or hours. Therefore, here’s Norah Jones singing Seven Years for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXiRuSIXbns

And appropriate for this crowd (myself included, and very affectionately), Paul Simon – Still Crazy After All These Years http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksa4VjKE3RY
And now I can sit back and listen to what else comes in…

Ah, Frank, my choice is Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ in the Years” – love that group, I’ve seen them in concert twice. Here’s a live performance of the song by Steely Dan on the Midnight Special (remember that show?) in 1973. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKOq7-mNeaE

Such a great choice that it was set to be the one I use to introduce Act 3 … but then decided to leave it for someone else and then go with The Grass Roots. 🙂 Thanks for coming through.

Good morning Frank! I’m not sure I’m getting it. Are we to post songs with the word ‘year’ or ‘years’ in the title, or those which mention an actual year (such as 1972, or 1999)? Also, I’m not sure that I won’t post only the URL and not the actual video itself – but here goes!

Frank,
Take your time with this one… It’s from one of my favourite artists from this last decade, Sufjan Stevens. He delves usually in more folky territory, so although this one does have his signature, it’s a tad outside of his usual musical realm… Enjoy Year of the Dragon http://youtu.be/sLsFuDaatWs

Le Clown,
I took in the entire song. Interesting to add another genre to the production. I must say, just when I thought the song finished, then the surprise ending!

Frank,
This album is a very particular affair for Sufjan Stevens. I do enjoy it, but to me, he shines most in “Illinois” and “Michigan”. Cheers, and I love this post…

I’ve been swamped at work (end of fiscal year) and was really looking forward to this, Frank. Being slow, I was sure someone else would choose the song, but I don’t think so. It’s one of my favorites. Five For Fighting’s “100 Years” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR-qQcNT_fY I hope I did this right, Frank. I’m never sure when the URLS embed and when they don’t. The song makes me cry, so here goes! 🙂

Debra,
In terms of the embedding, I have found that many times it is as simple as a Enter (new line) to get the video to show … so you are OK on this one! Great song.

After listening to several (but not all) of the great offerings from other readers, I think I’ve come up with a fitting addition to the list Frank: Day after day (the show must go on) by the Alan Parsons Project – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeUJxXGgsfI I hope you and your readers like it as much as I do…

Izaak,
That is a great song … plus I love Alan Parsons … BUT it doesn’t fit the theme of this act. Interestingly, I didn’t find any Alan Parson with Year or Years in the title. So in return, at least Donald Fagan’s IGY (International Geophysical Year) has a quasi-similar sound. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW4Tr89eMBg

Sorry Frank. I got so caught up with the notion of “time” that I completely overlooked the fact that “year” was in all the titles. The Fagan song is a great substitution! 😀

Absolutely no problem … besides, I’m happy you like the substitute. BTW … I hope to have Act 4 in late June or early July.

First off, I’m loving Rob Grill and his Grass Roots. Secondly, I understand this comment does not indemnify my presence (or lack thereof). So lastly, there’s this. A song on time. Or the not of time. Or the whatever happened to big hair, disco and cars with curves worth checking out? It’s Dust in the Wind by Kansas.
And hey, I added some irony just for kicks. Go Reds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH2w6Oxx0kQ
