On a New Header
I chose the previous header of the Aurora Borealis because we were going into winter. Now that summer has arrived in Cincinnati, the solar flares from the Goddard Space Center’s Solar Dynamics Observatory is an appropriate selection. Click here to see their image gallery.

Would the phone records controversy be such an issue if today was late September 2001?
Do you remember Monday’s metronome video? I appreciate the analogy that this resembles our political representatives. After all, the eventually fall in line with their marching orders in order to sound like one.
Fox News loves to bash both the liberal media and President Obama, yet, it given the latest flap regarding the phone records, they can’t bash both.
Speaking of Fox News, I see the rehired Sarah Palin (aka Nincompoop) as an analyst. In this past post I list reasons why Fox News is fair and balanced.

Too bad that the Philadelphia area has received so much rain for this weekend’s US Open. After all, softening the course generally lowers the scores – which doesn’t make me a happy camper.

There will be a Saturday Morning Cartoon post this weekend.
Happy Father’s Day weekend to the fathers who visit here, fathers of my readers, and to all fathers who have passed.
Have a good weekend … and I hope the only stormy weather you have is this song by Lena Horne. In the words of Garrison Keillor, Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.
Wet weather can play havoc with the Open as well.. specially if delays come in to play… some golfers having to play 36 holes in one day can make a big change in the scores… good players on form playing well and getting in 36 in a day can make a difference… but as you and I know… players playing badly and having to play 36 in a day, quickly disappear from the score board… oh well that’s golf…

Bulldog,
Yesterday’s 3.5 hour rain delay created havoc in the schedule. After all, with such a large field, they were going off both sides in morning and afternoon sessions. It was after 4 pm when the afternoon group started … and they obviously didn’t finish. Hopefully today’s weather will be better … but some players must finish first, then go back out because they become the morning session.

Having survived last night’s wild thunderstorm and high winds with minimal damage, I especially enjoyed the Stormy Weather with Lena – great choice, Frank!

i’m good with the dustpan.
as for the invasion of privacy thing, it’s funny how linsday graham was greatly upset that background checks for guns was an invasion of privacy, but he didn’t care one bit about the phone tapping. a weird guy.

Rich,
The dustpan is a good one! Meanwhile, relating gun regulations to this privacy flap is an interesting one.I had it in my head to mention that, but it never made its way to the keypad … so many thanks!

The new banner looks good, Frank — way to go. Like the weird porno headline. We’re on the same page about the phone records controversy. Hey, unrelated: have you ever had the 2012 J vineyard Pinot Gris? My sister served it tonight with dinner. Check it out. Excellent! We had it with grilled pork chops and green beans.

Lame,
Green beans is a one of those tastes that is a little tricky with wine … so cheers to the Pinot Gris for hitting the spot. I haven’t had it, but I’ll keep it in mind! Glad you enjoy the banner. … enjoy your trip.

Stormy weather indeed. Two people in our county lost their lives last night to the storm. One was electrocuted by a power line falling where he was standing and another was killed when a tree in his yard fell on him. They were dads, one a young father and the other an older. But I feel devastated for their families.

Your new header reminds of the last week of hot weather we experienced on the Eastern Shore. Yesterday’s stormy weather wasn’t as bad as predicted for us so I’m thankful for that, and always enjoy Lena Horne’s “Stormy Weather.” The dustpan cracked me up.

Oh, I just love those old black and white movies. I would to stay up late at night to watch Judy Garland and Deanna Durbin on a 13 inch TV with rabbit ears. When I was a kid, I was totally fascinated by the singing and dancing and how everyone had perfect hair and skin. Another favorite was those Gidget movies with teeny tiny Sandra Dee 🙂
