On a Trunk Full of Music

Another weekend in the books. The biggest events of our weekend was a night of ballroom and attending a dinner/dance fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation. How was your weekend?

It’s a new month, which is loaded with reasons to celebrate.

For starters, Happy Canada Day to the Canadians!

A few of the many July celebrations include Mango and Melon Month, Nectarine and Garlic Month, National Blueberries Month, and National Ice Cream Month (yes … Graeter’s).

For those enjoying reasons to celebrate, later this week is World UFO Day (Tuesday), International Cherry Pit Spitting Day (Saturday), Beans and Bacon Days (3-7), and Chocolate Day (Sunday).

Meanwhile, this week also includes a national holiday for we Americans, which means a short posting week for me.

  • Next is Time: The Musical – Months; so get your tunes ready that include month, months, monthly, or a specific month in the title
  • Wednesday will be the typical mid-week dose of satire
  • Thursday brings a tribute to the holiday
  • Therefore, no Opinions in the Shorts or Saturday Morning Cartoons this week

This video will start your week started with a smile. Yes, a trunk full of music. Have a great week ahead.

  1. Hey Frank

Good for you and the Make a Wish Found. It helps. Doing good helps.

UFO day, eh? My wife has a bunch of those in her quilting room. She calls them UnFinished Objects.

We are heading to Canada soon for some scenery and hiking near Banff. We plan to have some ice cream and chocolate, maybe with a cherry pit on top.

    Have a sparkler of a week ahead…Jim

  2. Frank,
Happy Canada Day to me! Yay!
Here’s an interesting fact: In Montreal, July 1st is when most of us here move… It’s an insane tradition on which most moving trucks are rented, even though they cost twice as much on this day, and renters and house owners depart from their old dwellings to find their new home. Tomorrow starts the madness…

  4. We had a quiet weekend, for the mosts part, Frank. I have my little granddaughters sleeping in the other room and that’s been a lovely Sunday. And I’ll enjoy a short work week, too! And thanks for the heads-up! I wouldn’t want to miss World UFO Day!

    • Debra,
Ah ha … .you were spoiling the granddaughters again! At least I’ve given you reasons for celebrations with them. Idea – Celebrate National Ice Cream month by treating them to some Graeter’s!

  5. I don’t think the elephant got the keys totally right, but I think the music hurt his ears … and that is way he want to get involved. *laughing
Looking forward to the new musical … always a bit of fun.
Today exactly a year ago did I land in Toronto and my 28 days adventure in US and Canada started. Want to do it .. again tomorrow. Happy Canada Day.

Glad to see that you enjoy the elephant’s effort! After all, they are having a good time! Happy Canada Day!!!! …. Now if I can only find a Tim Horton’s near me to celebrate.

  6. Thanks for the Major Monday Morning LOL video! You’ll be hard pressed to top that in the future.

Also thanks for picking this week to skip Opinions in the Shorts. I’ll be in Virginia visiting relatives with full attention focused away from politics (if that’s possible in the D.C. area) and on beating my brother-in-law in golf.

  7. I will be having some Graeter’s for National Ice Cream Day and I will raise a spoonful of black raspberry chocolate chip to you and your wife (because I know that’s her favorite too!). I wonder if the extraterrestrials know that tomorrow is World UFO Day? Because it would be a shame if they didn’t show up for their special day.

  8. Oh boy, that video really made me chuckle, Frank. I don’t think I could keep going with an elephant’s trunk plonking away on the keyboard next to my fingers. What fun though. 😆

  9. Looking forward to UFO day – maybe they’ll bring John back 🙂

The elephant video is funny, but did you know that elephants are far better artists than musicians 😉

  10. Gosh, Frank, our weekend here in Ecuador was boring compared to yours. Sounds like you had fun and did something good for the world, all in the course of two days. Happy 4th, my friend.
    Hugs from Ecuador,

  11. So gorgeous!! 🙂

And funny how she said “They like fun stuff”. How gorgeous even that is! This is wonderful 🙂

🙂 If zoos want visitors, I reckon they should keep a piano in the enclosure, see what happens. LOVE IT!

      • Oh – I saw this before!! I was a bit traumatised by it and said to Daniel “Why, why??” I mean, the gorilla KNEW. He didn’t know what ‘ugly’ meant but knew what UGLY MEANT.

Why, just why did the kids do that? Daniel said “Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of fuckheads. I don’t get it either.” Pardon my language. But thank fuck he understood (sorry if I’m being too heavy here, but I do feel it) – glad he understood that it might be an animal but it thinks and feels too and those bully kids were HORRIBLE.

        • Well … I guess young kids really don’t know better, plus they play off stereotypes … but still, my hats off to the gorilla for being smarter than expected.
