The Story
Time – The Musical is an original A Frank Angle production featuring songs about time.
Program (Past posts)
Act 1: Time
Act 2: Specific Time
Act 3: Years
Act 4
Act 4 only features songs with Month, Months, Monthly or a specific month in the title; but the challenge for attendees is no duplicates.
Production Note
It has come to my attention that past acts have crashed browsers. Please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line. The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video. I will try to establish a pattern to follow in the first few comments.
Announcement
Ladies and gentlemen, to kickoff Act 4, welcome Don Hensley with A Month of Sundays.
I got one: Harry Belefonte, Try to Remember the Kind of September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUaXzMrznwU

Elyse,
Not only a great song by a classic voice, it’s also a controversial choice right off the bat … is the song title “Try to Remember the Kind of September” or “Try to Remember”

A fantastic pick! The reprise of it at the end of The Fantasticks never fails to get me.

It’s a great show, isn’t it? Especially the fake rape.

I have mixed feelings over how much I enjoy that bit!
Another favorite is I Can See It, and then the ‘There Is A Curious Paradox” bit near the end.

I go with the longer version. Perhaps the songwriter needed an editor. Or a copyeditor (it’s Belafonte, not Bele).

LOL …. love the take on the editor.

Only because I heard “Welcome to the Jungle” today did I think of “November Rain” by Guns ‘n’ Roses.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SbUC-UaAxE

Red,
There’s always room for a good power ballad.

How about Nancy Wilson’s “When October Goes.” Barry Manilow does a nice version, too, but I’ll share Nancy’s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh0l2wle7qY
Fun, Frank!

Debra,
Ah yes … a piano bar with a lounge singer setting is perfect for this one. 🙂

So sorry, Frank. I see where I went wrong! I would withdraw it if I could figure out how!

Frank, of course …. Frank Sinatra’s “September of My Years” will be my choice – with me being a September girl. One of my old time favorites. I hope now that only the link will be provided and not the video, if it doesn’t work – please, shut me. *smile http://youtu.be/qzDzzMODEpM

Viveka,
Interesting pic … and this act has taken a slower pace. Interestingly (and hint to others) Sinatra had several songs with September in the title. BTW – when videos embed, I use my editing powers to come to the rescue.

Frank … I’m glad you don’t have to shut me … and I more glad that you don’t have to shoot me. Sorry, for the Swenglish.

Love the Swenglish term. Of course combo words also depend on the direction of the user.

Lol, to avoid crashing anyone’s browser, I’ll just tell you the name of the song, Frank – Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day.

Jim,
Welcome to Time: The Musical. Unfortunately, that song belongs in Act 1 – simply a rookie mistake. 😉 … Meanwhile, I take care of any embedding issues …. plus I here’s one for you that I’ve waiting for … September by Earth, Wind, and Fire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og1T491SiJU

I can’t decide which version is better, but the first that comes to mind is “My December”, by both Josh Groban and Linkin Park. Since Linkin’s Park version is far more well known, I’ll link to that one 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_5ALJiO42s

Maybe the theme song for the entire production: Time Passages by Al Stewart. 1978 pop hit.

Angela,
Time Passages is a great song … but I can’t recall if it appeared in Act 1 … but I think Year of the Cat was in Act 3. Meanwhile, because Months is the theme of Act 4, here’s one for you … a very peaceful song … February Sea by George Winston. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRRJtwr8BTg

Ah, Frank, for me it could only be “The Waters of March” by Antonio Jobim. Recorded famously by Susannah McCorkle (in English) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaynMm7wEro
and by Elis Regina and Jobim (in Portuguese with English subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3oNSFQVzNM
I love this song so much I featured it in my post http://composerinthegarden.com/2012/03/18/waters-of-march-aguas-de-marco/
Love this series, Frank!

Oh yes, that’s a great version too. Isn’t amazing how a song can embrace so many interpretations and never lose its essence?

I’ve got nothing about a month, especially this late, and not duplicating someone else. Lots of good picks. I heard Try To Remember today, as Muzak, and thought the title was “Follow.” 😕

This is kind of interesting! Is it Time the musical or On Time, the musical (the story of how one rotten person went from being always late for things to truly punctual). Ok, I’ve got to click.
