On Time: The Musical – Act 7

The Story
Time – The Musical is an original A Frank Angle production featuring songs about time.

Time The MusicalProgram (Past posts)
Act 1: Time
Act 2: Specific Time
Act 3: Years
Act 4: Months
Act 5: Days and Weekdays
Act 6: Weekends

Act 7
Act 7 only features songs with hour(s) in the song title; but the challenge for attendees is no duplicates.

Production Note
It has come to my attention that past acts have crashed browsers. Please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line. The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video. But I don’t mind unembedding.

Ladies and gentlemen, to kickoff Act 7, a grand AFA welcome to a classic musician and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame playing the Midnight Hour Blues –Β let’s hear it for Eric Clapton.

  1. The Jazz Standard – “If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight),” written by James P. Johnson, lyrics by Henry Creamer. It was heard in the movies “Flamingo Road,” “Casablanca,” and “Mister Roberts.” Here’s Louis Armstrong playing it on his trumpet:

  2. Frank, you are tough! Here’s a classical entry, Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours”, a short ballet from the opera La Gioconda that depicts the hours of the day through solo and ensemble dances. It was also included in Disney’s Fantasia, where the animals are dancing. Here’s the classical ballet version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmBF1bOlKOA Here’s part of the Disney version (3 hippos) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEjPDS8Jp1E

  3. Frank – this is just the ticket for relaxing after a rough week (and not just the US/World scene).
Brain dead or I’d add something (you nixed “9 to 5”)…probably from Sesame Street – there’s bound to be one?
Considering everything not sure if these fit the quest’s requirements.
An olde hymn: “Sweet Hour of Prayer”

    Have a great weekend!

    • Mouse,
Your are on target in many ways. First of all, the song fits because “hour” is in the title. Second, great point about rough week. Third, love the fact of another genre added to the mix!

      • That’s an old hymn heard in farming communities – not just on Sundays. My post today reminded me of how my dad used to sing it – and then your post prompted me to go find it. WIn- win!
(Both daughter and husband had some serious health issues this week but have stabilized. Glad it’s a weekend. Nice to find that song again.)
Cheers and thanks for the prod.
