On a Monday Slide

Welcome back from another weekend! What happened at your end?

Yes, we worked some ballroom dance into what was actually a low-key weekend. Although we also attended a holiday dinner gathering of people who will be our new neighbors in a few months.

The holiday blog party was a big success. Thanks to all who attended, and the mingling that was happening was a big treat.

There is one BIG downside of doing that post … and I don’t mean big, but huge! I forgot two regulars here. Because I love both of their blogs and their visits/comments here,  here’s a special treat to White Lady in the Hood and Debra at Bagni di Lucca & Beyond.

Because my holiday posting schedule will be different, here are noteworthy celebrations for the rest of December.

  • (23rd) Festivus, Human Light Day,  Pfeffernuesse Day
  • (24th) Eggnog Day, Last Minute Shoppers Day
  • (25th) No L Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, It’s About Time Week begins
  • (26th) Day of Goodwill Day, Boxing Day, Whiner’s Day, Candy Cane Day, Coffee Percolator Day, Kwanzaa starts, BGSU bowl game
  • (27th) Fruitcake Day, Holocaust Remembrance Day
  • (28th) Chocolate Day, Card-Playing Day, Gone-to-Pot Day, Call-a-Friend Day, UC bowl game
  • (29th) Chocolate Day again, Tick-Tock Day, Pepper Pot Day, Relaxation Day
  • (30th) Bacon Day, Falling Needles Family Fest Day, Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Day, Bicarbonate of Soda day
  • (31st) One Voice Day, Make Up Your Mind Day, Dice Day, No Interruptions Day, Champagne Day

My posting schedule for remaining time in 2014 will be a bit different. The next post will feature my holiday gifts in videos, so I hope everyone stops by the treats. That post will go live on the 23rd (evening Eastern US) so it will be live for much of Christmas Eve to those ahead of me in time. After Christmas Day, I will have a series of light, enjoyable posts.

Here’s something to start your week. Many have (or will) spend time in malls and/or airports … and escalators is one thing these two venues may have in common. Let’s just say that I don’t recommend trying this.

Have a good rest of the week!

  1. Frank – wanted to say thanks again for the invite and presents at the Christmas Party! It was a hoot. Really had a ball. Love the gifts and the genius format.

If I don’t speak to you until 2014, I wish you and yours Happy Holidays and a great 2014! (P.S. My post earlier today is titled “FestivUs” but it’s a different play on words and I’m sure will not resemble your post at all.) Take care and stay in touch! D

    • D,
Thanks for coming … and for mingling and getting into the spirit!

Now I have to make up for lost time and get back out there visiting others. May have to visit your FestivUs post on Festivus. 😉 Happy Holidays to you and everyone around you!

        • Hey Frank – I am getting your same response message 5-6 times today. The reply you sent on 12/22 @ 9:22 pm. I don’t know what’s up with that? Anyway, Merry Christmas and the best to you in 2014. I’m going to skeedaddle and try to be MIA until early next year. Thx again for your shout-out and a great Christmas party. 🙂

        • As we know, every once in a while WP goes a bit out of whack. …

Merry Christmas to you and all around you. Hope you get to see my Christmas Eve post (which happens to be active now for the overseas folks)

        • Hi Frank – hope you had a great Christmas. Yes, I’ve noticed it does – I think it gets higher traffic and then a little overloaded. 🙂

        • Yes, ours was very low key. Husband and I, dog, and three cats sat by the fire sipping beverages and watching movies. Our parents are in their late 70s and 80s, so we do Christmas with them when it’s best for them – not necessarily on that day. All our siblings live out of state, so we normally don’t see them. One’s a pilot (busy), ones a salesman (on the road), and ones a nurse! Not conducive to “normal” days off. 🙂 But we had a fun, restful, and happy day.

  2. Thanks for the party and the tee shirt. Area Man was in our paper today doing something strange to Area Woman.

The escalator kid didn’t seem to understand basic physics. Things in motion tend to keep moving at the same speed and direction – law of intertia. That curved rail at the bottom got him. Nature wins again.

    • Jots,
I see your city has 50s today while mine will be in the 30s and moving lower. Fruitcakes and a football game … obvious joys are on your way! Keep smiling … and hope to see you on Christmas Eve.

  3. Oh the folly, and physical resiliency of youth! That video is hilarious, but could have ended so badly. LOL! I’m going to hold on for “No Interruptions Day,” Frank. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a day like that! And to you and your wife and FIL, I pray you have a good Christmas. This is a toughie, but you have each other…and whole host of well wishers out here.

    • Debra,
Well said about the escalator guy! … and No Interruptions Day is a perfect fit for Breathe Lighter!

Christmas will be a tough one. It will be very low key, and the three of us will have a simple meal on that day … and then we get together with others a bit later. But in the end, smiles will still appear.

True gifts for the season on Christmas Eve right here!

  4. Thank You for the roses!
I got out in a torrential rainfall and finished my shopping this weekend. I think the rain kept the crowds at bay, so it wasn’t the madhouse I expected. Now, I’ll spend the next two days baking and cooking.(which I enjoy) (hopefully I won’t burn too many cookies this year!) 🙂

    Take care Frank

    • Marina,
Good luck with the packing. Seems we’ve been going through stuff for several months … but we are getting there. Oh the hard work moving and pressure moving brings upon us. Take care of yourself.

  6. Lots of fun festivities this time of the year!
Hope you don’t mind me pointing this out; but – you forgot one on the 31st. Other than the obvious NYE – It’s also RoSy’s Bday – LOL
Happy Christmas week to you & your loved ones 🙂
