On a Flashback Monday

Another weekend is in the books, so how was yours? Come on now, tell us something.

Ours included an evening of ballroom dancing, a trip to GoettaFest (which was a disappointment, thus the better GoettaFest is in August), various errands, a visit to venue featuring local artists, took my father-in-law to a Sunday brunch, and some things around the house.

My favorite golf tournament was this past weekend, The US Open (which I watched when I could). For me, the course wasn’t my favorite layout. Nonetheless, congratulations to Martin Kaymer (Germany) for the well-earned win.  Erik Compton tied for second place. Interestingly, I wrote a special-interest post about him in March 2009.

My eye condition remains, but Saturday included several short episodes when it worsened. On the plus side, the overall condition is relatively stable, and I see my primary physician in a few days.

  1. Hee hee hee… O.J’s Trial… I vaguely remember that take-off. Hi-larious.

By the way, that Thursday of celebrations… they sound (other than the Sickle Cell one) awfully intriguing, especially if I could find a way to combine them all. A boy can dream.

    • Trent,
The original presentation of the Judge Ito dancers was a hoot! Meanwhile, celebrate Garfield Day with a martini after sauntering to the pump to dump it while on a recess from work.

  2. Well, just a quiet weekend at home, gardening and writing at night, when the kids played some music… Sara Luna started studying an Astor Piazzolla’s quartetto piece, quite danceable (tango)… today starts a frantic week: school is ending in tree days! Serenity 🙂 claudine

  3. Another driver to and from Quebec, middle child is moved back home. We don’t have to drive now until September, where we will take her up north to Lindsay Ontario for College, then drive down to Quebec with the teenage boy.

I hope your physician can offer some solutions for you lovely blue eyes. Fingers crossed.

  4. Thanks for the clip – miss Leno.
Do people in other states celebrate Juneteenth? Seems weird as it’s originally a Texas history event. But we celebrate cinco de mayo all over. The parties here started over the weekend.
Crummy eye behave. Frank’s got stuff to do ( Are they cautioning about excessive heat or exercise?)
Take care – you know we’re all keeping thoughts on you.

    • Mouse,
I actually heard Galveston mentioned in a news story about Juneteenth! Otherwise, it doesn’t get a lot of play in Cincinnati.

One doc asked me many of the symptoms involving heat and strokes … thus he was confused when I kept answering no. OH well … we shall see what time brings.

      • Always confused why other states want to celebrate Juneteenth which is only important here. Congress made a push for national holiday last year – so odd? We don’t celebrate Alaska’s or Vermont’s or ay other state’s historic events. But whatever. No one here will ever turn down a chance to party.
(Of course you’re different and will not fit any well established square hole. It’s probably all the dancing and bell ringing that prevents you from sinking into the ordinary…)

  5. I had company this weekend. I know, shocking. But we had a great time, and we all marveled at my 14-year-old son’s speech at his middle-school graduation on Saturday, so it was a great weekend.

As always, Frank, you’re in my thoughts as you navigate this eye disorder.

Many thanks for the positive thoughts … I see my primary on Tuesday, thus anxious to see which re ords were placed along at least I tried. Cheers to the success of your son’s speech thanks for sharing

  6. I’ve been watching some of the 20-year news retrospectives on the OJ trial. I’ve found them interesting and also been shocked that the murders and trial were indeed 20 years ago. I used to see Judge Ito in various spots around town. How can it be 20 years! I enjoyed the Leno clip, and then I’m going to celebrate Eat Your Vegetables day tomorrow. I have some lovely ones waiting for a good roasting. 🙂

  7. I’ve been so out of the loop that I don’t even know what your eye illness is about. Hope you are okay! Sorry to have been gone recently. We were without internet for two weeks, and then I traveled to the US for nearly another two. So glad to be home in Cuenca again! Sorry I couldn’t make it up your way. Maybe next time!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    • Kathy,
You’ve been on the move, so don’t expect yourself to keep up with everything. Hope all is well in Lexington and beyond. 🙂

Two weeks ago (while on the golf course) my right-eye vision went wonky. I stopped playing and went to my eye doc (after hours). After more tests, back to the eye doc, then the retina specialist a blockage in the vein has been detected.More tests are on the horizon. There’s a constant blur in portions of the right eye (strange to describe) … very odd! Thanks for asking!
