The Occasion
I’ve interrupted the Pause button for an important announcement. A mere 6 years ago. A Frank Angle started August 28, 2008. To anyone who has ever visited my little corner of the world, thank you. To those who take to time to comment, many more thanks. To those who regularly return, I’m forever grateful. So get a drink of choice (alcoholic or nonalcoholic), enjoy same snacks, leave a song (if you desire), add a factoid, tell your friends to visit, and most importantly … mingle with others …. and I hope you return on September 1st.
Coincidentally … and yes … coincidentally … August 28th is the birthday of the reason for my prosthetic hand.
Happy Birthday to your blog. Fascinating to hear of your prosthetic hand.

Shimon,
Many thanks for taking the time for the greeting (as you continue to be on my mind). Now about the hand. I took my niece to a Shania Twain concert, and Shania touched both of our hands … and I thought that the hand should be preserved for prosperity. 🙂

Frank!! Helllllooooo!! I’ve missed you! Congratulations on your anniversary – six years is a long time to be blogging! I have nothing to offer regarding the number six as my mind is too boggled from having made its way through that massive and erudite list! ‘The birthday of the reason for the prosthetic hand’ is so intriguing – it could be a book title! Though obviously traumatic despite the presence of Shania Twain both times you have referred to it. My condolences, my congratulations and my deep appreciation that you continue to post despite six years having passed and the prosthetic hand!

Pauline,
Cheers to my favorite Kiwi on this anniversary day! I imagine more about six than you ever wanted to know. 😉 Ah ha … you have made the connection between the hand and Shania …. and after she touched my hand at a concert, yep … it was time to immediately cut the hand off.

Such power that woman has! I hope the hand is bottled in brine and placed in a prominent position somewhere in your house – I also wonder what Mrs F Angle thinks about that …….. 🙂

FYI: You won’t see me in the video. Nonetheless, Shania heads the Exception List (and my wife will confirm that). I took my niece to a Shania concert (my nieces first concert ever, and my third seeing the star) …. and both of us got high fives from Ms. Twain …. so chop chop …. off goes my left hand and into a hermetically sealed jar to preserve posterity.

Happy Blog Birthday! It is amazing you have been sharing for such a long time. As usual, your list seems very, very complete! The only extra one I can think of is the saying, “I’ve got your six” or “I’m on your six” to mean there to help, following, supporting. At least, I think that is what it means! And it somehow seems to apply to you–you have been there supporting the blogging community and your readers for a long time. Thanks.

I did see your comment about your hand but since Audra had the same hand-related ideas as me (handbells, golf) I just went in the direction of trying to think of a video (drew a blank) or a factoid about six to add to your almost bottomless pit of facts. So, are you planning to do a post about your hand now that you’ve outted your mitt? It seems to, pardon the pun, hold a lot of fascination for the aFa devotees.

This is a real tour de force, Frank. Well done. I felt challenged to come up with anything to add, but finally dredged up these humble offerings:
The original “six flags” theme park was in Arlington, Texas and the term was meant to signify the historical ownership of Texas, to wit: Spain, France, United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Confederate States of America and the state of Texas, which was once a sovereign state itself.
I submit that the element, carbon, deserves more attention than noting its 6 protons and 6 electrons. It also has 6 neutrons in its most common isotope. Carbon is the chemical basis of all life that we know. It is also the substance which, in a certain crystalline form called “grapheme”, is the strongest material ever measured. One authority describes it by saying it is so strong that “it would take an elephant, balanced on a pencil, to break through a sheet of graphene the thickness of Saran Wrap.
The traditional gift for a sixth wedding anniversary is wood, which is mostly made of water and, wait for it . . . . . . carbon.
