On Monday Weiners

Here’s a surprise – A full weekend for us of ballroom, a special dance competition, a birthday party, and we saw the movie The Trip to Italy, which wasn’t my cup of tea but the scenery and the food looked fabulous. The dance competition was so special, I should do a post on it. The handbell choir played again this weekend, and 1 or 2 people noticed I wasn’t playing, thus said something. For those interested, here’s their piece.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends for their Monday celebration. Don’t forget to search Trash Can Turkey on YouTube because that’s how Catherine’s (@Always a Redhead) family cooks their turkey. Fascinating, especially because I never heard of this.

Life: The Musical returns this week with Act 10 being all about Play … after all, Act 9 featured Work. So get your songs ready with any of the following in the title: Play, Playing, Fun (not funny), OR any fun activity. Be careful because some word as Play and Playing can be used in situations that aren’t fun, in which the producer could be a bit testy. Curtain time is this Wednesday, 9:30 PM (Eastern US).

I love this because I can see two of the dogs of friends in our new neighborhood doing this … especially with me at one end. Enjoy and have a good week.

  2. Yes please, a post about the ballroom dancing! I am a huge fan of dancing – can’t do it to save my life – but religiously watch many global versions of DWTS 🙂 I shall try and put a bit of thought into the musical – and not just race back in with the obvious choice as soon as the post comes into my in-box…….. I think it is a nice reflection on your ability and presence that you are noticed missing from the hand bell group!

    • Pauline,
I know you enjoy DWTS, and I’ve drafted the post, which hopefully I can finish it soon. As for the handbell choir, they are doing fine without me, but I was in it double-digit years and it will be interesting to see what comments I receive … but honestly, I don’t anticipate many.

  3. I was just looking through my fridge to see what I should make for dinner tomorrow night, and I thought, hmm, I’ve got chicken breasts in there, I’ll make chicken cacciatore. And then I see in your post that Wednesday is Chicken Cacciatore Day. I don’t suppose anyone will care if I celebrate it early, will they?…

    • Sylvia,
Sorry, we don’t publish any videos of us dancing. In terms of the Saturday’s event, given the nature of the event, it’s not publish them … but if one becomes available from the organizer, I just may provide a link.

The handbell piece uses a singing bell technique with the ringer moving a 1-inch wooden dowel along the rim much like what people do with their finger on the rim of a wine glass). Definitely interesting to see.

    • Isadora,
The chances of seeing my wife and I dance are slim … but the odds are better if the organizer releases a video (or more) about this past weekend. Meanwhile, I am posting about the event in about 80 minutes. Thanks for the encouragement.

  4. I liked the bell choir piece “Transformation.” Very transparent sounding.

Thanks for the remind that this is “Veterinary Technicians Week” which will remind me to schedule our cat for Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation boarding when we visit the relatives.

  5. The Running of the Weiners is my kind of race! I had a dachshund when I was a child…I still think of that dog from time to time. I hope you’ll post about the dance competition. I would enjoy hearing more. I’ll have to put my thinking cap on for tomorrow night’s “Life, The Musical.” One or two come to mind, but because they came so easily, I’d like to do better than that. 🙂 See you tomorrow night, Frank.

    • Debra,
Cheers to your love for the Weiner Dog Race … the buns they wear crack me up. Nonetheless, that race is part of Octoberfest Zinzinnati, one of the bigger and better ones outside of Munich.

The dance competition post is up (Special Event) … and knowing your musical mind, you’ll come up with something for Life: The Musical.
