On a Monday Breakfast

Start-of-the-week greetings to all!

How was your weekend? Ours was filled enough that I watched little football … but that’s OK. We had two evenings of ballroom. We’ve always said that he do ballroom for fun, but performing and/or competing is not our thing – but this Saturday we did participate in a tango formation as we were one of eight couples participating in a choreographed routine to a small crowd of friends. The group did well and we enjoyed ourselves – but I wouldn’t bet on us doing solo competition or performance.

Otherwise, we had a productive weekend around the homestead as we attacked our storage area because much of the boxes there haven’t been opened since the move. This meant four piles: donations, recycle, trash, and keep … thus mission accomplished.

The Saturday post about Carl Sagan was a spontaneous idea that came to me Friday afternoon. Even though it gave me another opportunity to future The Pale Blue Dot, I appreciate the reaction readers had to the post.

This week brings Act 13 of Life: The Musical. This one will be a challenge because of the plethora of songs available – Love is the word needing to appear in all song titles – but not other forms as loving, loved, lover, etc … just love. Curtain time is Wednesday, 9:3o pm (Eastern US).

  1. I LOVE MORCAMBE AND WISE 🙂 That made my day Frank, thank you. They were such a great duo, and it is really hard to comprehend that they did their shows so very long ago and both are now long gone from this world. Good to hear you got some sorting done, always a good thing! And the dancing sounds good to – and very sensible to keep it to fun and not competitive. I’m still practising my line dancing 🙂

    • Pauline,
Dancing is a social, no-pressure event for us … so participating in the formation was definitely different for us. Fortunately, it’s not a lot of pressure, but nobody wants to make a mistake.

Glad you enjoyed Morcambe and Wise as it obviously brought back wonderful memories for you. … Meanwhile, keep practicing those line dances!

  2. Well, I don’t do breakfast–unless it’s defined by the first meal of the day, which is somewhere between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm for me; and is rarely breakfast foods, more like dinner. I more commonly eat breakfast foods at night. I could sure go for that pizza you mentioned–but will likely make lasagna instead. First though, I have beans soaking for soup, and plans to make a German Choc Cake–as I’ve about consumed the crustless pumpkin pie I made last night…. I love forget-me-knots, so maybe I could work on a poem for that; and I think we should practice little random kindnesses at every opportunity. Now I’m hungry–must return to my pie…. God bless your week, Frank–you and the Mrs keep on dancing!

  4. Sounds like a productive and fun weekend, Frank. I think ours might have been similar in that respect. Gosh, I wish I were a decent dancer. The notion of learning tango is so appealing but would take SO much work for someone like me–and Sara isn’t much better. It would be more like stand-up comedy–though we’d probably fall off the stage. LOL

I’m trying to get my butt back in the saddle. I did manage to post something a month ago, but have been busy teaching workshops, looking at self-hosting my blog and writing my memoir (yes, I’ve been doing that), but I will make an effort to get something new out this week, including photos of our new home. Sorry to have been absent of late.

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

  5. I should check those boxes I haven’t touched since we moved to this new place 2 years ago.
I gotta be ready early on Wednesday to post an annoying song, I hate it so much because I can’t stop singing 2 stupid lines when I’m cooking. Don’t know why!! It’s so annoying.

  6. Good Monday to you, Frank !!!
I adore the Tango. It such a dramatic dance. My hubby is a bit concerned about us doing it because of the gauchos. LOL I’m glad you enjoyed your weekend dancing.
Now, I must write and get my letter off to Santa. 😃

Tango Roxanne … one of my favorite Tangos from Moulin Rouge

  7. Think I’ll choose “Area Code Day”…just for fun this week, aFA. We, too, getting a cold blast of Arctic air later in the week. Perhaps our first snow. At the very least below freezing weather. Area Code Day may be just the fun ticket I ride…..

    • Raye,
The evening weather report said that the blast could stick around for 10-12 days. What’s with that??!!!! Meanwhile, need to have extra wine to keep warm. 🙂 … Now the big question. In honor of Area Code Day, I’ve only had 3 area codes in my life … how about you?

    • Sylvia,
If the owner of the video posts the tango routine, I’ll post it here. Otherwise, chances of me posting an original video at this end is slim … but thanks for the encouragement. … and cheers to Kindess catching on!!!!

  8. I’m at The Grind, so I can’t watch the video right now, Frank. (Grrrrrrrrrr.) One day you should post a video of you and Mrs. aFa cutting the rug. You know that would score a stampede of hits … I saw Interstellar this weekend. If Carl Sagan were still around, I think he would have approved of it. It’s quite a head trip and packs an emotional punch. It’s very well done.

    • Lame,
We’re taking about seeing Interstellar asap … so I’ll keep you posted .. and thanks for the recommendation. As far as a dancing video, well – I doubt that would happen. However, if the formation is posted by the sponsor, I will embed it here … but I hope you get to see the comedy in this video. Meanwhile … get yourself ready for the blast of cold!

      • TOTALLY fun video, Frank!!! And NO WAY could I have watched it at The Grind today. The Boss was in a lousy mood — for work-related reasons that had nothing to do with us, but Godsend and I knew we had to lie low in the Department of Antics. Don’t suggest that I share it with The Boss. She HATES British humor. Or so she thinks.

Yeah, I watched the news today. It sounds like that blast of cold is going to linger. I bought a new down jacket to replace the one that was leaking a steady stream of feathers everywhere I went. I think I’m going to be wearing it very soon.

  9. Happy Monday and new week ahead! Okay… “Life the Musical”
Am I supposed to wait until 9:00 ET to post my “Love” choice? You’d think I’d have that figured out by now…but I flounder. 🙂

My weekend was nice. We’re up in Maine and had sunny days to be out and about. Just right!

  11. Oh good! I have a song already picked out…we’ll see if I can get it in before it’s already posted. 🙂 Good for you and your dear wife for participating in the Tango formation. I’d be entirely too nervous for any performing. It probably was a lot of fun. I have to work on Veteran’s Day, but I’ll celebrate it anyway!

    • Debra,
The dance was the first time we had ever done a formation and anything related to a performance … so that was an accomplishment in itself. The leader makes it easy because it’s more about fun than about perfection.

    • Mouse,
Forecasters are telling us this could be a 10-14 blast for us, which is way too early!!! … Meanwhile, I’m WAY BEHIND on my reading … may have to take a day off from posting just to use the time to touch base with everyone.
