Steve is a long-time friend, a good guy, and long-time photography enthusiast. It’s been a while since we’ve done a joint post. This time I picked the theme, wrote the text, then challenged him to provide the photos. See our other collaborations (Time and Waves) by going to the Sidebar > Categories > Photos by Steve or by clicking here.
I encourage everyone to visit his site to see his photos, which are available for purchase. He will also respond to comments here when he can, so feel free to ask him questions.

Love it! And Steve’s photos are great. The song though? I turned it off before John even asked!

Elyse,
This was fun to put together … and the song is far from my fav, but hey – the title fit … besides, Steve always enjoys music, but I will be interested to get his thoughts on the song.

Not a big fan of Keith Richards…something about his vocals. But still, I’ve heard worse.

Steve,
I was hoping you would comment about the song. I’m right with you, but hey …it was music with a fitting title.

I had to think about the ‘source of contraband’ and then realised it is probably that thing you sometimes hear slightly dodgy people say in movies ‘I have a connection who can …….’
I’m sorry, but I’m with Elyse on the song – it’s terrible! I suspect its the quality and the version – it might be quite good sung by somebody who can sing……. 🙂
The photos are great – I like the odd connections they make and the compositions. The last one ‘unhinged’ looks like a pen and ink drawing that might be found in an old edition of a Charles Dickens novel. It’s excellent work!

Pauline,
Like I noted to Elyse, the song is there more for it’s title. I invite you to see the other two posts we did (Time and Waves … the waves are my favorite …. and it’s not what you expect).

Frank – the link doesn’t work, it just brought me back to this post – but I found ‘Time’ – again great work from you both. I couldn’t find ‘Waves’ though. I also went to Steve’s site – he does have a unique approach with his photos – I could spend hours wondering around in there looking! I will have to revisit at a later date. 🙂

Pauline,
The link at the end of the post inviting to see more? If so, it goes to a page with all three posts, thus the most recent (this one first) … then scroll down for Time, then further for Waves. To leave a comment on one of those posts, click the post. Hopefully this makes sense. Glad you enjoyed looking at Steve’s work.
Hey Steve … Pauline is in New Zealand.

That last pic was purely chance….wandering around an old dilapidated house, shot the picture looking out at the sunset colors on the vegetation in the background framed by the doorway. Didn’t realize until I saw it on the computer later how great it would look in monochrome…and there you have it.

What superb photography! I went to see Time and The Wave also. I found the Wave a bit disorienting.and surreal….couldn’t get any sense of scale..a bit like being stuck in a taffy-making machine or a bowl of mocha cake batter….the essay on Time, though, I thought was exquisite..a haunting balance of order and chaos…this same sense of moving-toward and moving-away pervades Connections… Thanks, Frank…and Steve!

Yes, The Wave is very surreal, even when there in person. I like how there is not really anything to show scale…makes it all that more mysterious.

Have you considered selling blank note cards? Those photos in your Time gallery would make great Birthday greeting notes among a certain demographic… 🙂

Actually Cynthia, you CAN buy note cards from the website. It’s one of the options for purchase – either individual card or sets of 25 in a bunch of templates.

“Connection”, an outstanding example of how context is essential to understanding the English language, and also, perhaps, why Artificial Intelligence has been so elusive. Nicely done, Frank.

Many thanks. As you know, words have different meanings, thus throw in the context, it’s use can be quite a wide range … which (to me) makes putting this post together interesting. Glad you enjoyed this.

Found it! 🙂 You might want to say [others have] ‘Lovely gal, but ever so slightly dim and much given to making rash assumptions.’ – thank you for your patience 🙂
It was not what I thought – isn’t it an amazing piece of natural art! I a pleased to hear human traffic is kept to a minimum – but even so being such a soft stone, damage is sure to happen.
Steve’s photography is beautiful – he has an artist’s eye. I am happy to have been introduced 🙂
