Hello mid-week! How’s your week going?
I had a post ready, but then thought about how busy many are at this time, so I decided to go into slow-down mode. No post tomorrow, but Opinion in the Shorts will end the week. Next week, I’ll have several posts, then after Christmas, I hope to have an Explore series together – that is, light posts on a single topic to enjoy and learning.
The videos are two acts that didn’t get a chance to perform at the holiday party, so at least they get a chance to help with your mid-week boost. Did you watch/listen to either?
Because the rat-race that this time of year brings to many, I didn’t even do a combo … but hey – at least your mid-week dose of satire from The Onion is below. For the joys of the female readers, the headlines feature men … so come on ladies, which one tickled your funny bone?
Have a good rest of the week.

Man somehow thinks he doesn’t have enough alone time
Man’s family raises to record-high fourth priority
Area man locked in protracted battle with sweatshirt neckhole
Man sort of curious what his last straw will be
Man scolded by brother-in-law for not taking better advantage of open bar
Man wants just one trip to laundromat where he doesn’t meet perfect woman
Man going to trust society’s determination that he deserves his privilege
Man trying to enter conversation spends several minutes smiling and nodding at the edge of circle
Man announces pan to take out anger on first less-powerful person he sees
Disco Santa! Haha :). Thanks, Frank.

Derogatory man jokes? I guess someone has to take the pitfall mid week and as most of we women are just a nod away from pathologically insane at this time of year it might well be wise to stick with the man jokes. Blues brother Santa with a disco ball? Not entirely sure the 2 aren’t mutually exclusive Mr Frank.

These videos featuring these bad Santas, Frank, bring to mind Santacon which took place last Saturday in New York: http://nycsantacon.com/ It’s young guys dressed in Santa suits hanging out all over the streets of (usually) lower Manhattan. They’ve been known to get unruly and I am sure if there was an outdoor pool in the city, like in the Ceelo video you posted, more than a few would have jumped in fully Santa-suited. The wilder ones have gotten themselves arrested like the Santa character in the second video. Milton hid behind a tree to photograph some of them, until one of them photobombed him! Old man Milton loved the attention from a young guy who was rather handsome.

Such a party, aFa…you party animal you…which means I’m still recuperating! However….
My stockings are hung on the mantel with care,
And my Bee-Gee slacks have those cuffs that do flare.
I’m waiting for Santa to arrive with a smile,
To dance the New Year in with great moves and style.
Happy Holidays, aFa

Thanks for the smiles via your poem … and with a flashy new gravitar 🙂 … a self portrait? Because you mentioned dance, here’s a crooner from the past with the Christmas Waltz, which also has some dancer, but I get motion sickness from Viennese Waltz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI9C5S2-8_g

Watched the video…yes, we’d both have to take motion sick tablets. Besides…I’m pretty sure dancing the Christmas Waltz in jeans, ugly Christmas sweater and NW weather approved DrMartens doesn’t substitute well for a fluffy dress with starched petticoats. But I’ll bet dancing a Scent of a Woman style tango would be stunning…….

While as usual you find the funniest things, loudest laugh at the “Man trying to enter conversation spends several minutes smiling and nodding”. Somehow parties do resemble city traffic – and this poor guy is stuck in a traffic circle eddy.
(But here, dad gets the full report from daughter. He’s the worrier.)
Merry merry onward!

Mouse,
Love the analogy to the guy and the traffic circle … after all, I’ve been that guy at the party!

I like the first one from the Onion, it is definitely true in our house. Hubby is the worst for giving family updates, let alone making the phone call, it tends to leave it up to me. He has though, gotten the hang of texting and will send the kids odd pictures of himself at work.
LikeLike
Catherine,
You sure have some of the best family stories. Meanwhile, I know hubby works hard, so good that he connects with the kids via texts, which are probably a good diversion.
