On a Charm for Monday

How was your weekend? I hope it was filled with joy and good spirits. Meanwhile, feel free to share about it because I enjoy reading about your life.

My legs are tired … not sore – just tired. Yep … you guessed it … we danced Friday night, attended a dance workshop Saturday afternoon, danced Saturday night, and closed the dancing weekend with a few spins around the floor on Sunday. We also took my father-in-law to a Sunday brunch, plus watched The Blind Side (again). Now there’s a movie showing humanity’s good side!

Act 16 marks the return of Life: The Musical returns.  Death is the next-to-the-last act featuring songs with death, die, died, or dead in the title. Curtain time is Wednesday at 9:30 PM (US Eastern), so get your songs ready.

  1. Commerical – hilarious. I am going to do something like that to my kids, and scare the crap out of them. Buttercrunch Day made me drool. I just posted about my life – it has since recovered over the weekend but Monday is very very close.

Sigh, I never watched The Blind Side. And I love Sandra Bullock.

  2. I just drove 12 hours from Ohio to New Hampshire. Normally doesn’t take me that long, but I had the joy of experiencing a New England ice storm. My hair is probably white now. 😉

Not sure if I’ll be around much this week. My mom is having surgery tomorrow. So in case I’m not, have a good one, Frank!

  3. I realize you are touchy about the preposition ON, so I was careful not to click ON, but I clicked and clicked and nothing happened…does it make a difference if you click when your screen is not within reach of your fingers? I’m using a tablet. Should I clack, or snap, or tap instead?
Have a good start to a. good week, Frank!

  4. Frank, I am not, I repeat NOT going to celebrate Learn to Ski Day. I did that at 40. At 58? No. They would be writing songs about me and my ski-related death … Duncan, however, will celebrate Squirrel Appreciation Day. He hasn’t quite figured out exactly where they go when they run away from him.

Dead. Death? I guess thiis the final installment, eh?

  5. My weekend oozes into a third day, tomorrow, Mr. Astaire, due to MLK Day. Milton and I are attending a show at a festival called Under the Radar Monday night. As for my weekend, I went on a pleasant date Friday night, had a few hours of work done on my hair Saturday so that it looks forever young, and on Sunday, I ushered a revival of a terrific off-Broadway play, “Between Riverside and Crazy”. I ushered it before when it was first staged last July. It’s a thought provoking drama with a lot of wit written by a very talented playwright, Stephen Adly Guirgus. He has got to win the Pulitzer some day. I’m sure you’d enjoy this play it’s ever staged in Ohio. I clicked and got the right video. I thought, “I can’t believe I’m wasting my time watching such sheer stupidity.” Then, I clicked on another one where this manualist (manualist — that’s a new one to me) plays “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Jimmy Kimmel … So it’s Hunt for Happiness Week, eh? Now I have the perfect excuse for every day I arrive late at The Grind. Clever commercial. Wish I could don attire like that just to freak out Godsend.

  6. It’s wonderful that at age 65 you can still dance your heart out! Okay, the commercial, there is a reason why I tune out during them (which drives hubby crazy) but that is a horrible advertisement. Have a great Monday Frank.

  7. Glad you got in a full dance weekend in anticipation of celebrating “Bald Eagle Appreciation Healthy Weight Week.”

I’ve got my “dead” tune ready for this Wed. at 9:30.

  8. We had a low-key weekend at home, which was nice considering how busy we were over the holidays. Sounds like you were very busy this weekend, Frank. Dancing is very good exercise! And I loved the commercial. Had to watch it twice to see “Kyle” in the pantry.

    • Cathy,
Same with me about the commercial because I missed him the first time! It was quite the dancing weekend … whew … legs still tired … but at least we can … and I was able to see the crazy ending of the Seahawks-Packers game.

      • That was a crazy ending! I have to admit, I was rooting for the Packers (since Seattle kicked Denver’s butt last year in the Superbowl). And in the opposite emotional direction, I had hoped that Indy would do better against New England. But it is what it is! And I am a closet New England fan, having lived in Boston for three years. Maybe it will be a more interesting SB this year! 🙂

  9. We had a lovely weekend, as the temps were in the 60’s on Saturday and hit 70 Sunday (will do so again today!). Perennials are starting to bud in my garden (so soon, but I’m loving it all the same) and the squirrels well they have been going a little wild here lately so I’m not sure if I’ll be appreciating them on Wednesday – but I will celebrate today with some delicious popcorn! Love Blind Side! Hope you give your legs a rest this week – off to paint!

    • Mary,
Sounds like you are experiencing a dose of spring … thus loving every minute of it. Given the frolicking squirrels, spring-time love is in the air. Walked the neighborhood today (around 2 miles) and the legs only felt slightly heavy.

  10. My daughters paid a prohibitive amount to import a box of lucky charms. Not sure it was worth it in my opinion but they seemed to be happy with the results. It would seem like this week is aimed at soothing those angst ridden people who actually made a new years resolution who have succumbed to their lust with popcorn day, cheese day, buttercrunch day (what is buttercrunch? The only “buttercrunch that I know is lettuce!), most poignantly “Rid the world of fad diets and gimmicks day”, granola bar day, blonde brownie day and women’s healthy weight day all clipping the coupon of “oh bollocks that didn’t last long :(“.

It’s never wise to answer your cat’s questions because cats are deep and existential and require long winded answers. Best to answer your dogs questions which all revolve around food, walks and bodily functions. I am starting to wonder who thinks up these “days”…some of them just seem like everyday things that we should all be thinking about as part of our lives. Do we need a “hugging day?” if so, the world is becoming a very sad place. Every day should be squirrel appreciation day and how do you send a hug?! I have seen someone play “Hot buttered popcorn” on their armpit…amazing what keeps some people amused eh? ;). Have a great day Mr Frank. Off to think of my inclusion in the dearly departed musical

  11. It sounds like you had a busy weekend! No dancing here-except for in my kitchen–but sore from the gym.Our Sunday plans were cancelled because of the dangerous ice-covered roads, but today, my husband and I got to have a nice lunch with my daughter and one of her friends–and discussion of my daughter’s wedding plans.

My cats expect their questions to be answered EVERY day! 😉

  12. Sounds like you had an enjoyable weekend, dancing away!!! Wishing you a great week and Monday, my dear Frank. I’m off now to …brew a Potion, to keep us focused for the next month or so. Finally, we’re in studio, recording! 🙂

  13. We could use more positive films these days. (That’s a good one.) I’d write some clever comment, but we’ve actually had warm and sunny days – so we’re all tired after running around squinting at the sun in delight …so enjoyed the read and that charming commercial ( it is funny)
A bit odd that Thurs is Come in from the Cold Day – big cold front and storms are supposed to make Thurs totally horrid here….so you see why we are running Molly as much as possible now!
    Dance on, Frank

  14. We are headed into some travel and I am quickly reminded why we don’t travel any more than we do. I completely overdo it, I’m sure, making sure that everything at home will remain calm…pets, elderly parents, and the like–house sitters. So by the time we leave I’m exhausted. But I don’t want to sound like I’m grumbling. The weekend was about all that, but we have much to look forward to. I’m looking forward to Wednesday’s “musical interlude.” Death and dying…that’s a good one! Your dancing weekends are just great and I am a little jealous. 🙂

    • Debra,
Dealing with pets, elderly parents, and stuff makes travel difficult … so whew … exhausted before leaving isn’t good! Meanwhile, last weekend was a lot of dancing … thus tired legs, but I’m recouping … and I know you’ll be ready for Wednesday’s musical. BTW … my current post is in your arena – education!

  15. HI Frank! Love this and the commercial! That was my fav cereal as a child…(glad I know better now.) Was happy to see a few healthy things listed in your things to celebrate and I smiled at them all – and I love The Blind Side too, but must admit The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy is one of my favorites 🙂
