I remember when I thought I wasn’t creative. I couldn’t paint like my father or draw in any way like my nieces or even create a display like Mick did (as if that’s the only way to be creative!!)
I was always a follow-the-pattern-made-by-someone-else girl. Thankfully, over the years I’ve come to realize there is more to this creativity business!
Those strandbeests are the coolest ever. I remember seeing this video somewhere awhile ago. So worth re-watching!

“Strandbeasts” is not a common word we encounter on a daily basis … heck, nor weekly or monthly. I too have seen this sometime in the past – heck, I fairly sure I previously used this video here some time ago … but it’s still extraordinary.

Strandbeests. Remarkable. I’m reminded of a thought I’ve had before, that many people are compelled by their nature to do what they do rather than by conscious volition. Albert Einstein comes to mind – his curiosity about physics was apparent even when he was a child and fascinated by the phenomenon of a prism. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates too. Their success was, I think, not driven so much by a longing for wealth as a need for creative catharsis. There is irony in the fact that imperfect human beings are the pinnacle of creativity.

I feel lucky to have found a career that involves my creativity. Otherwise, I’d be a starving artist, photographing &/or painting graffiti and designing gowns no one can wear or buy.

Creativity has no limits… is amazing to see this “things” moving around by themselves… I’m only concerned about the materials used and the proximity with the sea… there are the Pacific Trash Vortex to feel urged about caring for ecology… but I guess this artist knows what he’s doing with eventual plastic-waste.
