Some of us have experience work by an evil WP gnome. You know – a gnome from the dark side that makes changes in your settings without your knowledge. It’s happened to me before, and it just happened again. Simply put, I wasn’t receiving email notifications about new posts … and now I have a lot of work to do because of this damn gnome!
Enough of that – how’s your week going? It looks like I will have a regular sub opportunity in a golf league, so that’s some good news at this end.
The next post is Act 3 of Meals: The Musical. Side dishes (sides) is the theme, so there is a wide array of choices. Think vegetables, pastas, casserole, soups, grains, salads, and more … but stay away from fruits, meats, desserts, and beverages.
On to your midweek dose of satire from The Onion. Don’t forget the Combo Challenge that gives you a chance to create your own headline by using the words in the headlines below the image. Give it a try – and mine is at the end.
Have a good rest of the week, and hope to see you at the theater for Act 3.

Sorry to hear you’ve been visited by the dread gnome, Frank. I think my concern with these glitches is how long before we know something isn’t right? Glad you discovered the problem when you did! And I’m looking forward to the next musical installment.
Here’s my Onion contribution:

I corrected the gnomes work, but it doesn’t me he/she/it won’t strike again. They are sneaky. Meanwhile, the fetus asking the doctor questions is quite an achievement.

Well thank you. Don’t know if I meant that the fetus was asking, but it’s all good!

“Man brings lunch from home to cut down on small joys” splashed a little of Henry David Thoreau’s “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation” in my face.
Good to hear that you’ve found a golf league substitute gig. Meanwhile, it looks like I’m out of the golfing business for while after suddenly in the middle of a golf league round last week coming down with “golfer’s elbow” (pain in the left forearm).

Tim,
Good I found some headlines for the face splash. Meanwhile, I wonder if golfer’s elbow is linked to not enough seeing the ball, hit the ball.

Time consuming indeed. I have been trying to alter the notifications frequency but there seems to be no ‘bulk’ selection. One has to go through each one and change it!

As you know, the young man is home and he is currently teaching me how to play the board game Axis & Allies, it is very chess-like, and has been on the kitchen table for three days now (I can only sit for so long, so we have to take lots of breaks from a game that already takes a long time to play. Ugh).
The gnome has also attacked me, I am not receiving email notifications regardless of how many times I fiddle with settings. Another Ugh.

Oh no … the perpetual gnome. That’s horrible. Mine have currently returned, but who knows how long it will last because he’s got me before.
I don’t know that game … long games … wow. Cheers to your persistence and willingness to learn & play a new game with the young man.

Imagine what he will bring to the world after he makes his grand appearance!
Long story short – I went al the way up to the Superintendent & the board. The sub is no longer there. A teacher (who I love) came back from retirement to cover the rest of the school year & hopefully bring the kids up to speed for what they’ve missed throughout March & most of April with the sub who was basically thrown in to cover a classroom with no plan whatsoever.
