The first quote says it all, and surprisingly it comes not from an artist but rather a spiritual and social minded person:

You cannot really explore the dimensions of anything, if one is not able to render and express what one feels and what the mind can see but doesn’t exist to the naked eye. And that is the monkey wrench thrown into humanity as the unknown scares the hell out of most us. And we cover I eyes in the comforting cloth of ‘if it cannot be seen or explained it doesn’t’.

Great take on dimensions. The quotes obviously focused on dimensions, but I chose the Jackson quote because I felt it was a great opener … yet, not directly about art … however, the art shown in the video is mysterious in its own way.

Not to contradict you, I don’t find it mysterious at all as much as I find it ‘deceptive’ ; not that there is anything wrong with being deceptive if done for good reason. But candy is candy, unless it contains poison or good medicine. If one believes, ‘nothing is as it seems’ then the borders of dimensions expand to infinity. I know, I know, this is just my dumb ass take, but without it I’d be up a creek instead of beyond.

I’m reminded by your post, Frank, that reality is always experienced and interpreted through the filter of the brain and the organs of the senses. In an experiment now about a half century old, people were given goggles to wear that turned the visual field upside down. After a period of days their brains were found to be reversing the effect. Then, removal of the goggles created the problem again for a while.
I also recall an interesting effect of symbolism using crude sketches called droodles.

When I read Sidney Poitier’s book “The Measure of a Man” he said: “You can never go back”, which, to me, is basically the same thing. Once you’ve stretched you cannot undo it.
