Meals: The Musical – Act 7: Alcoholic Beverages

The Story
Meals: The Musical is an original aFa production is about an important aspect of daily life – eating.

Whether a snack, something on the run, a glorious sit-down feast, or something in between and regardless of the time of day, food is a life necessity. There are three aspects to a truly fantastic meal: the food, the occasion, and the company. We know Meals: The Musical is a festive occasion where friends gather to share wonderful music – thus the acts will focus on what the dining friends encounter.

Act 4: Meat
Act 5: Ingredients
Act 6: Non-alcoholic Drinks

Act 7: Alcoholic Drinks
Whether a refreshment, nourishment, or accompaniment, drinks are part of the meal. Not everyone likes alcoholic drinks, but we took care of them in Act 6. This act features alcoholic beverages, so all song titles must include an alcoholic beverage.

Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.

Announcement
Regulars here know I like wine – especially red wine. The wine I refer with dinner primarily depends on the meal’s flavors. Ladies and gentlemen, aFa Productions presents The Fireballs singing their hit – Bottle of Wine.

    • Alisha,
Another example of a song that I don’t know but like a lot. I can hear the sounds on the ballroom. Very much a foxtrot or a combo with it and swing. Many thanks!!!!

  1. So many possibilities, so many choices but, ever since you announced that tonight was the booze night, I’ve had “Gimme a Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer” in my mind… the Billie Holiday version. I thought I’d go with the Bessie Smith version, having just watched Queen Latifah do such a marvellous job… but I just prefer Billie’s version! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bOjuGB_g20

  2. Hey Frank – HOLD THAT BUZZER! To allow your Hipsters, Flipsters, and Jazz-lovin’ Daddy-o’s a chance to Knock you their lobes, and Hip to this duet performance of “Straight, No Chaser” by Miles Davis and John Coltrane. P.S. The bass solo is hard to hear without turning up the volume, but hang in there so you can dig the Kings of BeBop bringing back the tune at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a047hPsYZd8

    • Tim,
The producer is scowling at me for overriding his decision to give you the buzzer. Of course, he makes two great points … the title doesn’t fit and asking for repentance from the start.

  3. I’m sorry to have missed the party, Frank! We were out of town and I didn’t intend to stop blogging, but I was caring for my parents on this particular trip and “life” got a little complicated. On the other hand, I did indulge in alcoholic beverages…some nice Paso Robles wines helot to soften the extremes of the stress. 🙂
