Cheers to your efforts of making Act 3 of Dance The Musical a success.
In the next and last act for Dance: The Musical, Act 4 provides the biggest challenge of any musical act.
- Songs must feature the name of a dance in the title
- Waltz, Macarena, and Hokey Pokey are acceptable examples … BUT ….
- No dance can be used more than once
- No children songs
- Info is on the Hear Ye page
- Performance time: next Tuesday at 9:30 pm (Eastern US)
I will probably have an Explore post this weekend.
Embed from Getty ImagesWouldn’t you know it. Kim Davis (the Kentucky County Clerk) finally made a good decision, and then screws it up when she added a disclaimer line to the marriage license. The lady doesn’t get it and I think she’s getting lousy legal advice. Meanwhile, The Onion got their word in by doing this profile on her.
In terms of the second Republican Debate, yep – I followed my same format as before: deciding not to watch, then get some information from a variety of talking heads. The day after I watched both CNN and Fox News … and I came away with the same conclusion about these two networks – There’s no way they were talking about the same event – although the difference wasn’t as vastly different as after the first debate.
I discovered (from NPR) the amount of talk-time for each candidate in the second debate. The data supports my idea that the “debate” is the wrong term. Although the evening’s rules naturally skew the results.
For the interested, here are various FactChecks from the event: PolitiFacts, Washington Post, CNN, Fox News, Associated Press

Here is another two-fer to lead you into the weekend. A leftover from Act 4 (I was surprised it wasn’t used) and a rock classic. Have a safe weekend and in the words of Garrison Keillor, Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.
I have no clue how to actually do this. But…
“Dance on the Bayou.” https://youtu.be/hkVwqfbzB6Y

Ray,
I appreciate the multitude of musical genres that are present … and Cajun Zydeco is certainly one my thumbs up list. Because of the keyword, I added this to Dance: The Musical – Act 1. Each act has a keyword(s) that must be present in the title … and believe me, I’ve hired a producer (The Producer) who is quite the stickler.
LikeLike
What’s the extra special keyword? It seemed like it was dance. The name of the song is “Cajun Dance.”

Go back one post … or click here https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2015/09/15/dance-the-musical-act-3-dancers/ …. look under the program where I have the guidelines (which changes for each act). Other acts have different guidelines.
Looking ahead to next week, see the Hear Ye page for the guidelines for Act 4 – it’s a bit different than normal. The theme is “Type of Dances” … thus each title must have a type of dance in the title. However, once the dance is used, nobody else can use it …. therefore, Waltz can only be used once. Hope this helps.

I did watch the debate. All three hours of it. The first ten minutes I thought, “You’ve got to be kidding.” It was more like a teenage reality show than a presidential debate. But it definitely provided entertainment. I’m not so sure that’s a good thing…

Carrie,
Cheers to you for enduring the 3 hours. Besides being informed, you also were able to see an aspect of entertainment. The next one is Oct 28th on CNBC.

I imagine the real winners are the networks that host the event. Twenty million viewers tuned into the debate. For a preliminary debate, I think that’s probably unheard of. And whether they (or we) like it or not, they probably have The Donald to thank for it. Sigh.

Sadly so, but absolutely correct. Besides, over 40% of the questions were either about him or directed to him. Ratings, ratings, ratings = revenue upon revenue.

I watched the debate in terror that any of these blithering right wing loons reeking of self-serving patriotism might be elected commander-in-chief. I equally loathed each and every one of them. I think they would all drive this country deeper into the sewer.

All continues to be crazy-busy. I should close on my new digs soon. Then, I have to take on gut renovations. Once that work is complete I leave this sanctum sanctorum and relocate my entire life to this new one. Unlike The Grind, my home will continue to be in one of the best locations in Manhattan. But I’m going through so much change right now. My life is completely upended. Through this, Milton and I are seeing about a million films at the upcoming New York Film Festival, along with many plays. I told a friend that I’m probably on the fast track to suffering a heart attack by February, I’m so overwhelmed.

Thanks for the recap … but crazy stress isn’t good. Then again, the film festival will be a good release for you.
Congrats on getting the new digs, but yes, the renovation and transition isn’t easy. An important question – Does it have AC?

Probably so because there wasn’t that much dancing in it … more about the interaction of two opposite characters, each who had issues.

Resa,
I agree … stressful on the candidates, the campaign workers, news reporters, and the voters. Keep in mind that I’m in a swing state, thus I’m already seeing ads and the Ohio primary isn’t until March! … and then the election the following November. … Crazy and very painful.

Oh, you know I thought of “Moondance.” I did and then I forgot! That’s one of my all time favs, Frank. That’s a great one. I hope that one makes it to your collection even though no one suggested it. I haven’t watched the debates either although I’ve seen some video and recap. It seems entertaining in some ways…I mean if they weren’t running for President. 🙂

Amy,
Before using Moondance here, I added to Act 3. Other compound words that many initially forgot were Moondance, Flashdance, and Riverdance.
In terms of the debates, let’s face it … the host network wants ratings (both Fox News & CNN achieved that) … but one of the ways to get that is by the questions asked. … so I can see the entertainment value – especially when someone as unpredictable as Donald Trump is on stage.

I thought of Flashdance, too. Sorry, I was too mixed up. Perhaps I was doing too much multitasking. 🙂 At least there’s hope for me, Frank. I thought of all kinds of possibilities here.
Trump definitely seems to be the focus. That’s just sad. Even when he has admitted he’s there to entertain. I think it borders on insulting.

“Insulting” is a thought I had about Trump’s behavior long ago … and I’m glad to know others feel that way. Regarding the next act, study the rules!

“(Photos) Autumn in Alaska” sent me scrambling to read my last Atlantic Magazine.

To the best of my knowledge, in our state one registers as a Dem or Repub … but not as an Independent. Therefore, I declare Independent because I’m not registered as a D or R. Meanwhile, glad you were able to find some good reads here … plus please consider cleaning your golf bag.

First to the pictures of Denali, these could almost convince me to take a trip to Alaska. Then, the wonderful love stories, Dance and Love who could ever question? But the story of the Pope, you know I love this Pope he is a humble and lovely man.
I watched the debate, of course I did. I think it was an early birthday present.

I had a two-hour commute Wednesday. I listened to the debate during the drive. I’ve never heard so much wackiness. The candidates show that they are nimble and capable of playing to the CNN structure and ridiculous (dangerous) format and rules. They are aces at that and the whole set of them are made for each other.

3 hours for a debate was over the top for me. Don’t get me wrong, I like the concept of presidential debates — give all the contenders a chance to speak, in neutral territory…. confine them in one room…. lock the doors… walk away, whistling… live out a peaceful existence… Anyway, where was I? Ah, yes, recaps are definitely the way to go.
As for Pope Francis, being in both the Northeast and working in the non-profit world, everyone is all abuzz around here regarding his visit next week. Personally, I am a huge PF fan, and the more I learn about him, the more I like him. The National Geographic article was spot on, and a great read.

Along with the time the candidates spent talking, they should put the amount of time each candidate spent lying. That should be very informative, too, don’t you think?

Wait. That was not SNL on CNN? Impressed anyone managed to watch the whole thing. (Yeah, pictures on the 10 dollar bill – that’s certainly important to me…Heard it was the TV Adams’ Family Chris C. suggested as a joke. Yeah, what a “debate”/network money maker) Fact checks the next day are always my favorite…even more fun when the fact checkers are checking the other fact checkers.
Cautiously I ask, Hokey Pokey is a children’s party dance, isn’t it? – Roller skate rinks and drunk adults make adult acceptable? (Joke, Mr Producer, joke)…off to scout dancing of the bars/stars
Halfway Americans doing pretty good to invent earthworm’s gender guesses. (Sorry – best I can do still being brain dead between the campaign pageant show and the Bronco’s game)
Have a great weekend, Frank!

Mouse,
I see your point about the Hokey Pokey, but, by using it as an example, I’m declaring it valid … but that doesn’t mean I all kids dances will be. I’m sure The Producer will eat his normal pre-act meal of chipped glass and saurerkraut juce.
Meanwhile, great points about the pic on the $10 bill. I say why not Bugs Bunny!
