A lot of people think that when you have grand scenery, such as you have in Yosemite, that photography must be easy. (Galen Rowell, photographer)
There can be nothing in the world more beautiful than the Yosemite, the groves of the giant sequoias and redwoods…and our people should see to it that they are preserved for their children and their children’s children forever, with their majestic beauty all unmarred. (Theodore Roosevelt, statesman)
It is by far the grandest of all the special temples of Nature I was ever permitted to enter. (John Muir, conservationist)
I went to Yosemite as an homage to Ansel Adams. I could never be Ansel Adams, but to know that’s there for us – there’s so much for us in this country. (Annie Leibovitz, photographer)
Yosemite Valley, to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space. (Ansel Adams, photographer)
Beautiful.

Loved it! Yosemite is one of my favorite places–I return there and post about it as often as I can. I have not been there now for several months and am feeling drawn to take a ride again soon! Thanks for this great fix on experiencing its beauty and majesty.

A wonderful movie, in which the beauty of the starry universe is visible… with a lot of shooting stars! To see it like that is impossible everywhere, because of light pollution that dominates much of our planet Earth.
Thanks for sharing Frank, have a geat week end! :-)c

We were scheduled to stay at the Awanee Lodge (after a year wait) and a week before the trip I was transferred and had to report to the new location. We need to plan to go again. beautiful video.

Yosemite is truly a treasure. We owe a lot to Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir for recognizing it’s grandeur and protecting it for all of us. Wonderful video, Frank!

I’ve reshuffled my Top 25 Bucket List again as a result of your post on Yosemite National Park. I look forward to answering your recent request: “What’s in my (golf) bag?” when we play the Kittyhawk Golf Center Eagle Course in Dayton, OH – which I have no doubt you will agree is the UNDISPUTED KING of municipal golfing venues.

Tim,
Your Top 25 Bucket List seems to be quite unstable. Meanwhile, Kittyhawk is better the Bethpage Black?

The Bethpage Black GC greens fee on weekdays for 18 holes is presently $130.00 with no senior or walking discounts available. Last Wed. I paid $11.00 (with the available walking and senior discounts) to play the 18 hole Kittyhawk Golf Center Eagle GC with 89 swings. Given that it would have taken me an estimated 110 strokes to play Bethpage Black, that computes to $1.18 per stroke at Bethpage vs. $.12 per stroke at Kittyhawk.

No. I haven’t been to any of the ones in the West 😤. But I am within easy reach of Great Falls National park here in VA and to Acadia in Maine. So I am pretty lucky, national parks wise!

The only time I was there as an adult (I think we went there when I was a kid, but I don’t remember much), it happened to be the 4th of July weekend…..Nightmare in the Valley I’d call it! Waaaay too many people, bumper-to-bumper traffic, no parking places, etc. So we left that small valley and drove up into some of the other areas in the park and, wow!, what a diffeence: hardly any traffic, no lines, and best of all the scenery was still gorgeous! Now, to go back and spend a couple weeks with a real camera and get a couple of good shots is on the list.

It is a place of wonder – heard the falls are flowing again. Someday I’ll make it there – hopefully without wildfires around. (But that’s just Nature redecorating – many can’t wait to see what she’d done to the place)

I have been to Yosemite twice: once during the summer with over 100,000 other visitors and once for the Vintners’ Holiday with, at best, only 2000 others. (http://media.yosemitepark.com/yosemite/multimedia/photos/yosemite-food-and-wine-events-at-the-ahwahnee/vintners-holidays-in-yosemite/).
The Vintners’ Holiday is usually held in November each year and, while the weather is a little iffy, I strongly recommend it for several reasons:
1) There are no crowds. In the middle of summer, you fight for space at the tourist stops. In November, you search for someone to take your picture at the same tourist stops. You get to visit Yosemite’s wonders without hassle.
2) The Vintners’ Holiday is held at the Ahwahnee Hotel, itself an enchanting place to stay.
3) You get to participate in wine tastings and dinners with some of California best wineries.

I love Ansel Adams. His photography is outstanding. We went to see him in the Everglades where he lives and photographs. He’s an extreme nature lover. I’m so happy he decided to photograph the beauty of the swamps and its wildlife.
I’ve never been to Yosemite. I guess that’s another one for my Bucket List. WOW …. I’d better get started. Great video too.
