Sky: The Musical – Act 4: Moon

The Story
The sky towers above – seemingly endless, but is it.

The sky is a place for imagination – imagine the swift flight of a local bird – imagining the float of a butterfly – imagining the soar like an eagle – imagining being on a plane to an exotic land

The sky is a place for dreams – of course, the dreams to fly – but also the dreams to go beyond – dreams of a future love we don’t yet know – dreams of the love we have – dreams of a love that remains for someone who is gone.

The sky – a place for contemplation – wondering about what to do – wondering what will be – wondering what has been.

The sky as a metaphor – a smoke – whether haunting or hopeful – a sign of brightness and darkness – for calm and storm – a blanket – infinity.

The sky is a place for everyday things – a place that never seems the same – the place that is the steadiness of the sun, the moon, the clouds, and the stars.

Welcome to Sky: The Musical.

Act 1: Sky
Act 2: Sun
Act 3: Clouds

Act 4: Moon

I’ve never seen a moon in the sky that, if it didn’t take my breath away, at least misplaced it for a moment. (Colin Farrell, actor)

The day, water, sun, moon, night – I do not have to purchase these things with money. (Plautus, Roman playwright)

The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to. (Carl Sandburg, author)

I love to think that animals and humans and plants and fishes and trees and stars and the moon are all connected. (Gloria Vanderbilt, designer)

The faults of a superior person are like the sun and moon. They have their faults, and everyone sees them; they change and everyone looks up to them. Confucius, philosopher)

I think we’re going to the moon because it’s in the nature of the human being to face challenges. It’s by the nature of his deep inner soul… we’re required to do these things just as salmon swim upstream. (Neil Armstrong. astronaut)

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. (Buddha, leader)

Guidelines

  • Songs with either Moon or Moons must be in the title
  • Cautions:
    • No songs using moon as a compound word (moonlight, moonbeam, etc)
    • Cat Steven’s song is Moonshadow, not Moon Shadow
  • No duplicates songs regardless of artists

Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.

Announcement
The moon can be full, new, and everything in between. Some of our references are blue, black, pink, and blood – harvest, hunters, strawberry, wolf, and others. With the moon being a constant in our lives, the production made sought to a classic performer to open the act. This Saturday, December 12th, marks the 100th anniversary of his birth, so having him here to open Act 4 is an honor. Ladies and gentlemen, direct from Hoboken, New Jersey – welcome Ol’ Blue Eyes himself – the great Frank Sinatra with Fly Me to the Moon.

  1. Dear aFrank,
The moonchild in me loves the moon – July birthday …Cancer and all that.
Ask hubby and he’ll tell you I’m as changeable as the moon. I like being that way.
It would be boring to be the same. YAY … for the moon.
Of course, it’s needless to say that ol’ blue eyes is great. We all know that. Just saw a tribute on him. His songs will be around for another 100 years.
This was a tough one but here goes …Lindsey Stirling-Elements Dracula(Version Orchestral) & Moon Trance https://youtu.be/XTQjLZJXyaE/

  2. Whenever I think of the moon, I think of the movie Moonstruck. One of my favorite movies, and I love when the grandfather cries out, “La Bella Luna.” Oh…but you asked for a song. As usually, I’ve not hunted one down. But Moonstruck has a theme song with the moon in it, though not in the title (That’s Amore).

    • Aquileana,
I’ve had much on my plate of late, but not due to the holiday season … thus why I’m way-behind on my visits elsewhere. 😦 … Meanwhile, I hope all is well with you in Buenos Aires.

The Cat Stevens song is a classic … but Moonshadow is a compound word (not Moon Shadow) … and The Producer said no to compound words (… and I also like Moondance, Michael Buble … and The Producer gave me the evil eye)

But here’s a beautiful song for you … Virginia Moon (Foo Fighters featuring Norah Jones) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfvxb8gtHKE … enjoy!
