2015 aFa Holiday Blog Party

Welcome to my 2015 Holiday Party for my friends, their guests, and whoever stops by this weekend!

In the spirit of the holiday season, this gathering is for everyone: Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists, Agnostics, and others. I say everyone because I’m a firm believer that the majority of the world is good – and in spite of all the crap we get from the news each and every day, the WordPress community helps prove my point … so peace and goodwill to the global community of goodness!

My wish is for guests get a gift and mingle with others – which also means gifts can be traded!

Come back to mingle with the guest and watch available entertainment.

This is going to be a bit crazy for both readers and your host, so I request your patience! … but make sure you read the Overview and Directions below the next video.

Overview

  • Behind each number is a surprise gift. *
  • Once the number (gift) is taken, it’s no longer available (so state your number in the comment)’
  • While I hope to strike-through taken numbers, I do have to sleep and run errands – so I request readers check the comments for taken numbers. (See the Update note above the numbers for my progress).

Directions

  1. Pick (click) an available number for your surprise gift.
  2. In your comment, type your number (hopefully on its own line so all can see it) and tell everyone about your gift.

Positive cheers to all in the spirit goodness for the season! Have fun!!!!

  1. I picked #10, and Wow thank you Frank for the purple LED fingertip gloves. They are perfect for when I eventually want to build myself a backyard igloo. I said eventually because we have no snow here with our spring-like temperatures.

    • Catherine,
Hey Hey … the first person arrives all the way from Ontario, Canada .. and it seems you got the perfect gift for that igloo you want to build when the snow arrives – whenever that is. Meanwhile, they can keep your hands warm when you are in the loo. Best holiday wishes to you and the family.

    Wow.
My very own, Captain Kirk, Star Trek Chair, Swimming Pool float.
Just what I need for my infinity pool, at my luxury villa, overlooking the ocean, fanned by palm tree fronds, bathed in warm sunlight.
I’ll be sipping margaritas, whilst using my on board keypad to steer me on the water.
Thank you so much for your delightful gift.
    Original and so thoughtful.

Welcome to your first holiday blog party here … and all the way from India .. I’m honored, and appreciate you daring nature of jumping right into the gift bags. We haven’t seen the new Star Wars yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised it we do within the next 7 days. Many thanks for the holiday greetings, and all the best to you! ,, Meanwhile, be careful using that game!

LOL … I love my gift, aFrank. A GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY DANCING GROOT BODY KNOCKER … too cool. It has a hairstyle I wore many moons ago and thought quite fashionable. Then again, my daughter is a Trekkie she might like it because it’s a guardian of the galaxies. MMMmmmm … decisions, decisions. Anyway, if you haven’t guessed yet – I LOVE IT !!!
Happy Merry and all that …. 🍷🍷🍷

p.s. – I went to a play called the Great American Trailer PArk Christmas Musical – HILARIOUS!!!

Well, now, Frank I just got my gift of a Bacon Dashboard Dancer… now al I need is a pair of dice on a string to wrap around my rear-view mirror and I will be perfectly outfitted for anything!

A very Happy Christmas holiday to you and your loved ones and may the New Year bring a whole lot of good things!

Mine is a Despicable Me Ani Mei Backpack. Just what I need to carry all my books! Thanks Frank. 🙂
I do hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I do hope I will be able to visit you more often in the New Year. This year has been a rough one and I will be glad to see the end of it. Have a great holiday my friend.

Lucky number 11 was really lucky to me…my very own Tattoo Coloring Book. Since I am terrified of commitment, I have no tattoos of my own, so this will allow me to vicariously have my cake and eat it too (all of the tattoos, none of the pain, or fading, or change of mind and regret down the road).
And maybe this will open a new career door down the line… Professional Tattoo Colorer. It’s a thing, right? 🙂
    Happy Holidays to all! -christy

  11. I went for #23 because it felt like a random number, and I am not disappointed! This Minions LED Watch should go perfectly with my daughter’s Minion happy meal toy, which has gotten inextricably buried in my car, that now if I shut the door too hard I get a Minion giggle. Always good to expand a collector’s set!

Many thanks for the invite to this smashing party — from the comments, it looks like I’m not the only one scratching my head at the oddly warm weather. I’m heading South for Christmas and will have to pack t-shirts!

Hooray .. .New Jersey is represented! … Knowing that the Minions LED Watch pairs you well with your daughter is extra good news for me. Great to hear that you are going South for the holiday … No matter how unseasonal for us, it’s still not the warm feel you will get. Enjoy … and have a safe trip.

  12. Happy Holidays, Frank! It’s great to be here. It’s such a warm atmosphere here on your blog. I went for lucky number 13. My present is a BATMAN RETRACTABLE LANYARD!! Yay! I love Batman and I will definitely be taking it along when I go to visit Gotham over the holidays. 🙂 Cheers, Frank!

All the way for northern California … I’m touched! … and what wine would you like? (and I have quite the selection) … while you are thinking about it, here’s a Renwood Zin from Amador to hold you over until you decide. Meanwhile, the Batman Lanyard will be a hit with the boys – who may try to steel it … so be careful.

  13. #33 They say that double numbers are power numbers, so #33 brought me – ta da! – a Shot Roulette game! Wow, this is something I would have loved 33 years ago but probably could not survive playing today – a glass or two of wine is my limit 😦 So in the spirit of Christmas, I am happy to “regift” this present to anyone with enough stamina to play the game 🙂 Thanks anyway Frank, and, do you play this game? Happy Christmas!

As you know it is summer over here, I have a pool but still didn´t use it this year… I was waiting for this… no pretexts then…
I much enjoyed the Holiday Blog Party, my friend… Glad I didn´t miss it.

  15. Merry Christmas Frank! I’ll take NUMBER 47 in honor of my Daddy. He’s not with us and we all miss him, especially at Christmas. He actually had a leg lamp and he loved A Christmas Story.

Like you, I believe most people are good. What a grand party you have here!

  16. Hopefully nobody else picked #1 before I got there, I checked as you requested, but since I don’t always remember what I went into the next room for….So a glow beer pong game. I guess this could light up the night and liven up a party so I will donate it to your party for all your visitors to enjoy. Brigitte’s leg lamp is awesome. I used to watch A Christmas Story with my kids every year. The leg lamp was an inside joke to us. My husband had a big fish mount hung up where you could see it through the window and the first time he saw the move he said “Don’t even compare that leg lamp to my fish!” We all laughed hysterically because we had already been doing that for several years.

  17. I picked number 12 and how lucky that I got the banana ring toss game that is apparently a big hit at bachelorette parties, which means I am now invited to the next one and since I am the owner of the banana and also possess all the rings my evening should be very busy.
Just wondering….do you think this is an all evening game or are there breaks in between…:)
Great gift Frank. Looking forward to meeting new friends..:)

  18. Happy Holidays, Frank! I’m sorry I’m so late to the party. I picked number 19, and oh boy! I got an Elvis “Blue Eyes” Sherpa Fleece Blanket. Neato! Thank you! It’s almost the next best thing to a velvet Elvis.

    Like

    • I hit enter before I finished my comment. I wanted to add that a Sherpa fleece blanket is perfect for this weather. It’s pretty cold this morning, and now I can put aside the old fleece blanket (which has seen better days) and use this new one.
I laughed at your disclaimer (and that you felt the need for one!). You mean you won’t be buying me a Sherpa Elvis? 😉

Someone mentioned A Christmas Story so I brought you a tour of the house where it was filmed. It’s an old post from my old blog, but thought you might enjoy it when you have time.

Happy holidays, Frank!!! Wow – a Periodic Table of Music Poster! Very cool! Where science and music intersect! I had no idea there were that many music genres! I can usually find something to appreciate in each one, so I think it’s the perfect gift! Thank you, dear Frank!

Have a really busy weekend, like you, I’m sure, but wanted to stop by to wish you and yours happy holidays! Thank you for all of your efforts here in providing such wonderful merriment for the blogging community! Your special talent in bringing people together is a gift you always share so generously with each one of us, all throughout the year, so I’m raising my glass to you! Cheers, Frank! xoxo

Why #26? That was Billy Williams uniform number when he played with the Cubs. Sweet Swinging Bill Williams. He had the most beautiful left-handed swing.

And what did I receive? A time-warp clock. Misshaped and odd looking wall clock. Warped – get it? Anyway, time-warp me back to Wrigley Field, June 1969 so I can watch Billy Williams roam left field and take his swings in the middle of the Cubs lineup.

What a wonderful tribute to one of the greatest Cubs … possibly the second greatest behind Mr. Cub. .. and yes – the clock may lead the way for the time warp of future playoff wins at the Friendly Confines.

Hey Frank, my better writing half told me to drop by your Holiday party and I am glad I was able to make it. Very busy weekend, and this is a nice way to wind down for the evening. So thank you for always supplying the cheer, regardless of the calendar date.

        • In terms of the USPS, I still look at the overall success rate, thus it remains one of the great bargains of the day. I give them much more slack than a delivery service placing the wrong package at the wrong door – which I tend to think that careless haste is the reason.

        • No doubt a regional thing as far as USPS delivery record…right now anything left anywhere outside is at risk. Shoppers unclear on the way to the malls are following delivery trucks and as a package is delivered and the truck leaves, someone jumps out, runs to the porch, and snatches the boxes. A new holiday shopping tradition! Lots and lots of video footage on home security cams. Since Thanksgiving, UPS/FedEx./USPS recommending here you have packages sent to office instead of home this year.

        • We went on a walk with the specific purpose to locate the package. We found it on the doorstep of a neighbor who is gone for the holidays. (So it has been there for several days) Our addresses differ by the middle number. … But I’m not remaining on hold for who knows how long to tell FedEx … but I have sent Customer Service an email to call off the search.

        • You’d get a laugh at some of the home security footage from last Aug when several delivery drivers from different companies were filmed chunking packages like Hail Mary football passes from curb to porch, and basketball hoop slam style. You could hear the breakage. Embarrassed companies fired drivers. Must have scolded them good as no new incidents of package tosses have been seen recently.
“Christmas Eve Gift.” Beat ya…ok it’s technically not 6 pm here, but…old (Southern?) tradition. Whoever says it first not only wins (important to kids), but has good luck next year. So just a heads-up for your afternoon! Merry Christmas!

It will combine perfectly with my annual trip to Yellow Springs, OH, to purchase politically incorrect bumper stickers and refrigerator magnets for my relatives. 46 is my pick. The Bullshit button will come in handy to call out people for stretching the truth, giving me the run around, or refusing to follow the money. All the best in 2016!
