If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking. (Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood)

The colors live a remarkable life of their own after they have been applied to the canvas.

I want to travel. Maybe I’ll end up living in Norway, making cakes. (Eva Green, actress)
I was walking along a road one evening – on one side lay the city, and below me was the fjord. The sun went down – the clouds were stained red, as if with blood. I felt as though the whole of nature was screaming – it seemed as though I could hear a scream. I painted that picture, painting the clouds like real blood. The colours screamed. (Edvard Munch)
Enjoy this visual journey to Norway. Would you visit? Have you been there? Would you return?
Not been there, but it does fascinate

Watch yourself! ….. and did that Bronco D ever control the game. Wow!

I really didn’t think that Broncos D could run the table this postseason, but they did. Very impressive showing indeed. I’m not going to put them in the ’85 Bears class, but every other defense? Yeah. Especially considering they play in an era where offense has basically been given diplomatic immunity.

Definitely not the ’85 Bears, but very, very good … and the teams they handled aren’t known as offensive lightweights.

It’s beautiful. Are you planning to go there? I actually thought you were going to play the Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood.” And I can’t help it, but every time I hear or think the word, “fjord,” I think of Monty Python and the Dead Parrot sketch. 🙂
I’ve seen the Murakami quote on lots of memes, but it’s still wonderful, as are those from Munch–so vivid. Of course his colors do come alive and scream.

Merril,
We haven’t been to Norway, and it’s not (currently) on the list of possible upcoming vacations over the next two years. However, I’ve heard nothing but wonder things about the country. In terms of Monty Python, I wasn’t familiar with this gem (until now) … so here it is for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuW6tQ0218

Oh, Frank, it’s a classic. I’m glad you finally know it. Thanks for sharing the link. We’ve seen it so many times, but my husband just watched it again with me. See, “pining for the fjords.” 🙂

What a wonderful video. We never made it to Scandinavia, and I wish we had. Norway has always been on my list. But the other photos and films pale in comparison to this one, Frank. Just spectacular!
I especially love watching the fog roll in from on top of the mountain. When we were in Switzerland, we would often drive up the mountain behind our house to get to the other side of the gray fog — and it was always stunning above — the alps rose as if from a bed of snow … lovely, lovely, lovely.

Norway is on my list of places I want to visit someday, in some lifetime or another. Stunning video, Frank. Great collection of quotes, too. I particularly like the Haruki Murakami quote. I read the book a few years ago, and ended up with the Beatles’ tune in my head the entire time I was reading it. 🙂

Robin,
Interesting how so few (but I don’t think any) of us have visited, yet so most of us want to go.
Because it seems others have thought about the Fab Four’s song, here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtHkW97AJk8
