Every kid dreams of a party like this …
. .. with ice cream
… and cake
… and cookies
… friends and happiness
… and our imaginary friends too
All for this young lady
… It’s a good day for her.
Ice Cream Daydream is a vibrant mural created by ArtWorks at 33 East 12th Street in Cincinnati’s Over the Rhine district. This mural is full of imagination, fun and joy.
ArtWorks is a unique non-profit organization that employs and trains local youth to create art in the community. To date, ArtWorks is responsible for over 100 murals throughout Cincinnati – which many are in the main part of the city.
This post is for Resa, Toronto’s lady of style who also captures street art in Toronto and Winnipeg as a hobby. Resa recently declared March as Kid’s Month on her blog – so this is the first of my two posts for her celebration.
This kid dreams of the same party, Frank.
Thank you for sharing this.

Brigitte,
ArtWorks has done fabulous work in our city both for and with people. Such a wide variety of murals, and more are on the way … and I’ve only captured a few. I’ll have another one for kids in about 2 weeks.

Terrific, Frank. I think you ought to do a picture book on the Cinci murals. Could be a fundraiser for Artworks.

This mural series is quite different from the previous examples. I think the element of whimsy and the appeal to children of all ages is really very nice. I’m so impressed with the entire ArtWorks series. Many cities have small groupings, but this particular effort is so substantial.

Debra,
Glad you appreciate ArtWorks. Oh yes … quite substantial and I’ve only toughed on a small portion of them. Whimsical is another good descriptor here. and definitely for the kid in all of us.

I was a kid once… I didn’t like it.
Maybe it was because I didn’t have wonderful murals of ice cream, cake, cookies and creatures.
If I had a hat, it would be off to Resa.

Of course you didn’t like being a kid … well, or a young adult … or even an older adult … and so on and so on.

I love how Resa makes us feel free to just love art. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Or world changing. It just makes the world a better place through color and effort. There’s a lesson there.
