  1. As I was reading your supposed “non-exhaustive” list, I kept wondering what the occasion was – and figured it had to do with an anniversary of sorts 😉

I love when you do these, Frank!

  2. Tom,
Thanks for the best wishes and support. Ten would be a nice number to reach … as would 2,000 …. but I’ll just let it happen because my prolific posting days are probably in the rearview mirror.

  3. Nine years is an impressive blogging anniversary, Frank. Congratulations on hanging in there! Even though not as often, it’s always good to read a post you’ve put together. Of course nothing of this nature could be exhaustive, but this is a very impressive sampling of the #9 facts! There were many facts I wouldn’t have known, but I can usually make my way around most idioms. But I’ve never before heard “Nine day wonder.” I looked it up and even after reading it, hadn’t heard it before. I will plan to circulate it whenever applicable. 🙂

    • Debra,
Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the idiom you mentioned, I didn’t know that one either. Then again, learning is one of the fun things about researching! For whatever odd reason, I like doing these posts! 🙂

  4. Congratulations, Frank! I wanted to leave a comment yesterday, but wanted to find something witty to say for such a special occasion. Alas, you’ve covered nine to the nines.
So, I turned the tables, and came up with “enin”
According to the Mirriam – Webster on-line dictionary it is a variant spelling of “oenin”
Definition: an anthocyanin pigment occurring in the skin of the blue grape and forming a dark red or reddish brown crystalline chloride.
Here goes: Grapes make wine. A toast in blue to you, Frank! Cheers!!! Clink!

  5. Starved for eclectic knowledge and quality opinions, I by chance this morning decided to check out AFA in hopes of finding you BACK and in fine form – both the case! Congrats on your 9th year of earnestly trying to persuade partisans of all stripes to come to the middle, and for today leading me to the knowledge that “Dressed to the nines” is thought to refer to the British Army 99th Wiltshire Regiment, known as the ‘Nines’ and renowned for their immaculate military dress.
