There’s a camera …
… a camera displaying colors across the building.
At the far end of the building we find ET.
Another colorful array exists in the opposite corner …
… as well as beautiful designs behind the camera
A patch serves as a hint of the one behind the colors ….
… his face looming large in black and white … but he was a quiet man with a large place in history
The man is an astronaut in a colorful spacesuit …
… holding the camera as he stands on the moon.
Armstrong is an ArtWorks tribute to Neil Armstrong (1930-2012), an Ohio native who was the first person on the moon. After retiring as an astronaut, Armstrong lived in the Cincinnati area for many years; including time on the engineering faculty at the University of Cincinnati.
ArtWorks is a unique non-profit organization that employs and trains local youth to create art in the community … .and to date responsible for over 125 murals throughout Cincinnati – which many are in the main part of the city.

Raye,
This is quite the display of color for the center downtown district. To me, it all made sense when I learned it was done by a Brazilian artist. Long live the color!

Wonderful, Sir!
Now you’re giving me the incentive to go and take those pictures I promised Resa way back when…

Dale,
Glad you enjoyed this splash of color. I encourage you to go out to get what you have in mind. Besides, it’s easier when the weather is tolerable. 😉

I did, Frank.
It has been ridiculously gorgeous here. We finally had rain on Wednesday after a month of sun. Back to beautiful the next day.
Just have to find the time…

I did not know Armstrong was a son of Cincinnati Frank, colourful and informative! PS I love this mural.

Pauline,
Armstrong was from a small town in about 2 hours north of here (Wapakopeta), but spent much of his post-astronaut life in Cincinnati. Glad you enjoyed this colorful array with a touch of Brazilian color.

Fabulous, Frank! I really enjoy seeing your city’s murals.
The art concept behind this one is outstanding. I thought the Rosemary Clooney mural had an A+ concept as well.
4 posts away from my 1000th! (but who’s counting 😀 )
As always, I am thrilled to have a shout out from you! I really feel we are mural buddies!
Once my Gala is over, after Halow’een, and before Christmas, I was going to tie to a post of mine to one of yours. However, now I think I shall tie to an enhanced concept!
Have a wonderful weekend, Frank!

Definitely … and because of your stance, you need to ride the streetcar in all your travels.

Robin,
The murals alone will overload your photographic eyes … but that’s what photographers love. So … do the Price is Right thing and Come on Down!

As the last two pics show, it’s a large mural … so given its size and the bright colors – all adds up to a big WOW! Glad you enjoyed this one!

This is so cool, Frank! I love the whimsy of ET and all the color along with such an important historical figure. It would be a mural worth studying, I’m sure. Love it!

Debra,
I recall ET’s inclusion surprised me when I first saw it. Like you, I love the love … and the B&W face for Armstrong. BTW – I think it was a space post was my first visit to comment on your blog.
