The time has come for the annual rite of transition of passing from one year to the next. The changeover from 2017 to 2018.
For each of us, 2017 brought us trials and joys – tribulations and elations – agonies and thrills. After all, that’s what life entails. We are human – so the tendency of dwelling on the negatives seems much easier than focusing or even recognizing the positives.
I’m not sure what 2018 will bring to this blog – my little corner of the world. Two milestones are approaching: 300,000 visits (probably this or the next post) and 2,000 posts (about a dozen to go). I know I still have more to say, but I’ve also seen many of my loyal visitors stop blogging – and I’m not up to rebuilding. I would like to do one more blog musical, more beach walks, and more about the intersection of science and religion, but time will tell. Posts about Iceland are almost ready.
Let us raise our glass for a toast.
To the goodness of the WordPress community …
May 2018 helps us see the oneness of humanity.
May 2018 shine the light on kindness and generosity.
May 2018 bestow a positive understanding of others.
May 2018 bring good health and happiness.
Salute! Yamas! Proost! Skål! Sei gesund! A la votre! Şerefe! Gān bēi! Terviseks! Kippis! Salut! Cheers! … .and I hope you select a version of the grand song (plus let me know your choice).
My personal choice for this post.
For those desiring a touch of the pipes with beautiful scenery.
For those desiring a rock legend for the song.
For those wanting to sing along with the crowd
Love your toast Frank. Definitely wishes to raise a glass to.

Bring 2018 on, I say. In fact, it can’t come soon enough. And though it may be more of the same, at least I’ll have November to look forward to. 😁

Raja,
Thank you for the kind words. Did you read the last couple beach walks? The series is done, well … at least until I return to the beach for more thoughts. After all, I want to keep the series authentic. Wishing you many good blessings for 2018.

For entertainment, I thought I would go with variations on a theme this time. Meanwhile, I sure hope it’s warmer for you than me as temps should be around -15 C at midnight! May 2018 bring you many joys!

The happiest of new years, Frank–your toast is a perfect one. I understand your growing ambivalence about blogging, because I share it, but I, for one, hope you keep on keeping on!

Happy New Year to you … and hey hey hey … a congrats on the good year for your Nittney Lions.
No doubt, blogging is full of ups and downs. I wonder about the average lifespan of blogs. In totality, probably less than a year … those that go beyond that probably decreases over time. I’m approaching 10 years in August, so I would like to at least continue till then. Milestone post #2000 is much closer, so (health willing) I anticipate hitting it either January or February.
I worked hard to build a readers – especially regulars – but so many have moved away from blogging, and that’s OK …. but I seem to be more interested in writing and posting than I do in building a following. Oh well … meanwhile, I’m carrying on.

Thanks for the kind words. I’m not obsessed with stats anymore, but I do like noticing and recognizing milestones. Meanwhile, one benefit of blogging is that the vehicle has brought together good people of the world. 😀

Yeah, stats aren’t my main thing. I like connections. Writing can be a lonely profession.

I’m definitely looking forward to what you’ll share in 2018. I was glad to see 2017 go, quite frankly, but I’m feeling more optimistic about 2018. I have no idea why, since many of the same concerns from the previous year are still sticking around, but it’s nice to feel hopeful. 🙂 Happy New Year to you!!

I know I’m going to go out and be a part of the AMA (American Heart Association) campaign of knitting or crocheting red preemie baby hats and distributing them to intensive care units where baby with severe heart conditions are. One act of kindness can create a ripple of good. Blessings to you and your for 2108
