Cincinnati has been in an odd weather pattern since November. Not only did winter start 6 weeks earlier than normal, it lasted longer. So spring started later than normal and was short. It’s mid-June and we’re experiencing July-August weather. I do not embrace high temperatures with high humidity – but I realize it is more comfortable here than the saunas to the south.
Hope to visit two temporary exhibits that are in the city this summer – one featuring the Chinese Terracotta Army and the other about chocolate. Would either interest you?

We saw the movie Solo. It’s a little long. Star Wars fans will love it. It’s more about the Hans Solo, but not much good vs. evil. No endorsement here, but it’s OK for a rainy or too-hot day.
Here’s a oddity. One of our friends is a twin, who will soon marry a twin – and it just so happens both (really all four) were born on the same day – actually two hours apart.
I believe First Lady Melania Trump’s recent visit to the border was sincere. However, her choice of clothing was a case of bad judgment – not an intentional message.
Mr. Trump, if the people implemented a Zero Tolerance Policy, you would not have lasted a week.
When Republicans took control of the Senate in 2015, Senate Major Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised the Senate would pass a budget instead of passing continuing resolutions. Well, it hasn’t happened yet!
With all the statements being made about the Mueller investigation, I find it interesting that the actual investigation has released little (if any) information. Meanwhile, whatever the results, I hope each party accepts the results and moves on!
Everyone knows President Trump thrives on lying, exaggerating, blaming, mocking, forgetting, denying, deflecting, contradicting, confusing, taking credit, and shirking responsibility. Incredibly, he is the best-ever, most incredible president to accomplish this things.
It appears President Trump will be meeting with Vladimir Putin soon. Mr. President – when will you be meeting with the leader of Iran?
For those who listen, Rudy Giuliani is the perfect spokesperson for President Trump. He fits in with the parade of others the White House trots out to media.

I know what you mean about the jacket … hello —- she’s a model, and models are aware of their clothing. … but for some reason, I’m leaning in her favor … but that is subject to change!
The Chocolate exhibit starts soon (next week?) and continues to the first weekend of January. … Keep in mind that Cincinnati has numerous good craft beers.

I would love to see the Terracotta Army. I think such an undertaking must have been rooted in insanity. I’m going to refrain from commenting on the Trumps. After all, they are Obama’s fault.

The reason for the Terracotta Army is simple …. It’s Obama’s fault! …. So is the reason that lesson that 10 statues were part of the exhibit.

The Terracotta Army was in Philadelphia. I thought about seeing it, but we never did. Chocolate always interests me, but it would depend on the actual event. 🙂
I read a piece in the paper today–the author thinks Melania’s jacket was meant to be a distraction because it’s not like the designer clothing she normally wears. This whole administration is tone-deaf, as well as being awful, so who knows?

For opposite reasons, I liked the reads “Just Keep Swimming: How to Avoid Phishing on Social Media” by Austin Castle and “Why getting distracted can be a very good thing” by the BBC’s David Robson.
None of the pin/hole placements at this year’s U.S. Open were a problem for the golfers who left their approach shots below the hole. Same was true for Retief Goosen in 2004 when he won by keeping his ball below the hole in spite of the Shinnecock Hills GC being proclaimed “lost” for the final round.
Especially were honed-in political comments in today’s post. Thanks for speaking out and for refusing to accept normalization. And by the way, what ARE the administration’s plans for meeting with the leader of Iran?
My wife and her two sisters have from experience declared “Coworker following World Cup goes all-in on tenuous family connection to Portugal” to be a splat.

As far as I know, the administration doesn’t have plans to meet with Iranian leadership. I ask the question because of who he has met.
Keep in mind that although I speak out against the current White House does not mean I am a Democratic lock for 2020,

I wouldn’t say that Mueller investigation is yielding little information. He has already indicted something like 15 people, with some of them already having pled guilty, and the charges, i believe, are public.
I think that counts as information, don’t you think?

As for Melania, I would like to give the benefit of the doubt, but she had several opportunities to remove the jacket (change the optics) after it showed up on social media. As I understand it, she’s too old for the jacket as well (it’s something meant for the much younger generation) and it’s not in her typical price range. And there’s the all-important question: who wears a jacket in Texas in the summer when it’s probably 107°??! It’s all about poking the liberals, I think, and providing distraction after distraction. Whatever the case, she made a statement, as First Ladies do, whether she meant to or not.

Not a big Star Wars fan. Darth Vader . . yes. And when they make a flick devoted to the Dark Master, I am there. I found it interesting that Woody Harrelson is in the Solo movie. I guess everyone has tried their hand at one of these Star Wars installments though, so why not?

You’ve interested me in your four-part series, Frank. I’ll be very curious to see where you’re taking us. I think last week just about burned me out on politics. I know myself well enough to know that I can’t really stay away, but it would be a good idea if I did. LOL! I need new coping strategies if I’m going to try to keep up. I don’t have any movies I’m too interested in right now, but I came home from the library yesterday with a huge stack. Many more than I can read without multiple renewals. I think that was my subconscious way of saying that I need to unplug! We are enjoying some cooler than expected weather right now, and I’m going to enjoy it for as long as it lasts. And I’d like the Chinese terra cotta army. That was an exhibit I wanted to see while it was here, and I just couldn’t. Enjoy!!

The four-part series has started. It was fun to research, but difficult to determine how to present it. I decided on a very structured format, although it may frustrate some readers – and I will be very measured on my responses – which could also frustrate some. Time will tell how it turns out.
Regarding the Terracotta Army, we did see it, so I have something to say about it in the next OITS. Probably a feature post in the future. Meanwhile, good luck with your coping strategies. Mine are simple – 1) don’t trust anything the president says – 2) blow off the partisan rhetoric by both sides – 3) Rely in patience because time will take care of it – 4) Laugh with Colbert.
