The Story
Welcome to Pronouns: The Musical.
Some may ask, “Pronouns?”, but we at A Frank Angle say, “Why not pronouns!”
A subset of nouns, pronouns serve as a substitute for nouns and noun phrases. These bits of linguistics and grammar are versatile and can almost refer to anything.
Although pronouns can be personal, objective, possessive, indefinite, relative, intensive, demonstrative, interrogative, reflexive, and reciprocal, this musical extravaganza focuses on selected pronouns.
Program
Act 1: I
Act 2: You
Act 3: Me
Act 4: He
Act 5: Him
There is nothing impossible to him who will try. (Alexander the Great, Leader)
Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world. (Maria Montessori, educator)
Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave. (Martin Luther, theologian)
A scientist in his laboratory is not a mere technician: he is also a child confronting natural phenomena that impress him as though they were fairy tales. (Marie Curie, scientist)
A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him. (David Brinkley, journalist)
The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing – and then marry him. (Cher, entertainer)
Guidelines
Songs must have Him in the title
Cautions
- No duplicates songs regardless of artists
- Foreign language equivalents unacceptable
- Contractions are acceptable at the discretion of The Producer
Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.
Announcement
Welcome to the latest musical by aFa Productions – Pronouns: The Musical.
Act 5 is all about Him. Songs bring back memories for each of us. This song was not only a mega-hit in 1963, it was one of those songs that I remember as a young lad that stuck with me for many years because it was one of my early favorites. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s have a great aFa welcome to Little (and I mean 4 foot, 10 inches tall) Peggy March with I Will Follow Him.
Act 6: She
Phew! Number 1! So I don’t have to worry now… 😀
How about Joe Jackson’s Is She Really Going Out With Him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TzKSFbsh2Y

Okay so, I don’t do these shindigs, but when I do . . I go with Elvis. Not the rhinestone cowboy shoot the TV Elvis, nah. The other dude. So, Elvis Costello “Let Him Dangle”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2hA_Xjr33E

There is a certain vein of smartass in us all. Now that I’m old enough not to care mine slips out unnoticed.

That there is, John! I would even go so far as to say that it is one of the benefits of getting older… the whole not caring about what others think and being one’s own true self.

John,
Isn’t there a certain age when smartassness is totally acceptable?

Let’s call it tolerable. 😀

Pauline,
I’m probably one of the few people here that hasn’t seen Les Miz (stage or screen)! However, what a beautiful song! … but I’ve seen the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performing twice!

It’s one of the better modern operas I think Frank, and this particular song is a heart breaker, but the MTC probably has a larger repertoire of beautiful music.

True, written by Paul McCartney (And I Love Her), Paul claims it’s his fave version of the song. So, Ester took the song outside the box, and I’m going with her. I wonder what the Producer will say?

How could The Producer NOT love this?

He’ll love it, but the original title is “And I Love Her” Esther made it her own with “him” 😀

The title is the title… whether the singer changed it or not, it is registered as such!

Resa,
The Producer informed me that did his research to verify your information. She has a great voice!

John,
As the official Maitre d’ of the our theater, one of Dale’s duties (and one that she takes great pride) is to protect attendees from the production’s producer. Keep in mind that The Producer is a graduate of the Joseph Stalin School of Theater Arts and eats glass clips several times a day.

Glad you are enjoying this act of songs. It’s company policy here that everyone commenting has a song, so here’s one for you. A beautiful instrumental by Hans Zimmer from the movie Gladiator – Honor Him – which is a reoccurring musical theme on the soundtrack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkArQ_qTegM
