  1. Hello Frank! I just learned something 🙂 I thought we can’t possibly have 90 highways here, we simply aren’t that big. So I checked and according to Wikipedia we have 99 – who knew!! Thank you for giving such a great run down of the number 90 – it’s fun to run through it all.
And I love that father and son duet, it is so touching. I watch it and think Andrea is aging now and begins to look delicate and his beautiful young son is picking up the Bocelli baton – it brings a lump to my throat. I also think it is a wonderful thing that you remember your mother with love and a tear or two at certain times – she passed quite young.

  2. You lost your mother while she was still quite young and I’m sure that each birthday since you think of her with a pang of longing. Your research into the number 90 is incredible, Frank. I don’t think i knew hardly one fact you’ve included. My head spins! Now the video is wonderful. Thank you for that.

    • Debra,
For whatever reason, the idea that I’ve lived longer than her hits me the most on my birthday … and of course this post served as another reminder. For whatever reason, I like doing these posts. 🙂 … Thanks for the kind words.

  3. Frank,

Your mother was only fifty six when you lost her. You really put a lot of work into this post- as per usual- but I must tell you how touching that video is when you describe what it means.

Blessings and peace to you my friend

  4. Your mother continues to live in your heart, and I remember your thoughts about her when you visited her homeland not so long ago. Celebrating her birthday seems quite natural both for you and for your friends who know how much you love her. May her birthday be a very happy celebration… and a reminder of how much she appreciated her adopted country, and accepted it, the good with the bad…

    • Shimon,
Interesting how certain days serve as reminders – birthdays, & Mother’s Day are two – then there are the days when someone pops into the mind out of nowhere. Thanks for the good thoughts!

    • Daff,
Thank you for the kind words, and more importantly, many thanks for sharing a bit of our story. Whenever I do a salute post to a number, I always have a reason (and some miss it) – so the fact that you got it on your first journey here made me smile.

  5. Learning that Cicero started to serve in the Roman army in the year 90 BC led me to discover the following quotes from his writings:

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”

    “While there’s life, there’s hope.”

  6. Beautiful video, Frank. Happy birthday to your mother who still lives in your heart.

That 90 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head is a doozy. High alcohol content and very hoppy. My kind of beer before I became a teetotaler. 🙂

  7. Another wonderful number post. These are always intriguing and entertaining. When I flip the 9 over and the 0 over, I get 60. (no reverses, just flip overs) Cheers to your mom! I miss mine, too.
Well, guess I’ll go. I’ve got 90 minutes to make dinner! ❦❦❦
