On She/He: Initiating the Challenge

Note: To participate in this challenge, see the Challenge page/tab.

She is the one for the next dance.

He spotted me and doesn’t know who I am, but I know him.

She displays a slight smile as I approach.

He doesn’t know that I started watching him as soon as he walked through the door.

She changes her face into a glow as I extend my hand.

He doesn’t know what I have in store for him.

She graciously engages my offered frame.

He feels like a dancer.

She transforms my leads into beautiful motions.

He’s a better dancer than I expected, but not as good as he thinks.

She glides the floor with grace and elegance.

He doesn’t realize that I make him look good.

She makes me feel like the king of the ballroom.

He’s about to be surprised.

She smiles in appreciation as the music ends.

He doesn’t know I just delivered a signal.

She is the one.

He’s a dead man.

  2. Good one, Frank… musical assassins and all that jazz!
I’m glad I caught this in my reader… I read your comment the other day but haven’t had chance to reply yet; at least this gave me a timely reminder!
My post is slightly different ( https://wp.me/pVkLb-4lH )… and I had to alter the context of your ‘She’ words to make them fit… I hope this is OK with your challenge, but I included the original ones as well! 😀
It was fun coming up with the scenario!

    • Tom,
Glad you enjoyed this little encounter between two people. Your changes were fine because they stayed within the intent. I’m very appreciative of you taking this on. Had to tell you because I know how much you enjoy writing! I invite you to read Dale’s.

  3. Hi Frank, I enjoyed your twist. Here is my offering:

She’s the one for the next dance.
He doesn’t even look my way.
She displays a slight smile as I approach.
He smiles at her and not me.
She changes her face into a glow as I extend my hand.
He invites her to dance, we’ll see about that!
She graciously engages my offered frame.
He puts his arm around her waist, two can play at this game…
She transforms my leads into beautiful motions
    He’ll notice me now.
She glides the floor with grace and elegance.
He’s kicking himself for choosing the wrong partner.
She makes me feel like the king of the ballroom.
He realizes I’m queen of this dance floor.
She smiles in appreciation as the music ends.
    He is coming over.
    She is the one.
    He is the one.

    Hope you enjoy!

  4. Yes, I’m here … super late and unprepared. As much as I’d like to add my 2₵
I haven’t had a moment to spare. This is our busy season: Dec.Jan.Feb. So please forgive : (
Your tale had me captivated, aFrank. I loved the dialog in their minds. This line is great:
“He doesn’t realize that I make him look good.” HA HA … I wonder how many couples feel that way. You know how couple dancing can be. It’s always the partner who missed a step. HA HA
Of course, the ending brought it all together. I would have ended it with a power punch too.
    Well done … 😀 Have a super weekend … Cheers 🍷🍷
    Isadora 😎
