Act 5 of Pronouns 2: The Musical goes live this weekend featuring songs with Your (or Yours) in the title. Curtain time is Saturday, 1 AM (Eastern US). FYI: For the advance planners, the will be a very important announcement!.
Recently finished Prague Winter (Madeleine Albright, 2012) about Czechoslovakia. After a short history, she focuses on the years 1930-1949. Chapter 18 about Terezin is a very good, but gut wrenching. Worth the read on its own. Also watched a 90-minute documentary about Terezin – Defiant Requiem. We found it on Amazon Prime, but it may be on Netflix.
Michelle Obama’s Note to Self for CBS This Morning made a lot of news – and deserving! On this link. visitors have a choice of reading the text or watching the video (after the text). Click here to watch on YouTube.
One of college basketball’s great non-conference rivalries happened last Saturday between two schools that are 2.4 miles (3.8 km) apart. Until one moved on, the Crosstown Shootout also involved two unique coaches – each from Cincinnati and each a grade of the school they coach. Well done Xavier and Cincinnati – plus cheers for a decisive Bearcats victory.
Last weekend was also America’s best college football rivalry. Army-Navy is what college football should be about.
My wife’s foot continues to recover – but slower than anticipated. She hasn’t danced since late October, but I try to get one day a week to not get too stale.
What a good laugh? Go to Amazon, then search for “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” – then search for “Make Christmas Great Again” – have fun! Alright – I did it for you and I linked the searches.

If anyone noticed, nobody commented that I didn’t mention President Trump or the Republican party once in last week’s OITS.
Has anyone seen the entire Rex Tillerson-Bob Schieffer interview? I’ve seen snippets, but not the whole interview. If you find it, please let me know because my search was unsuccessful.
Remember the rumors that if Kelly, Tillerson, or Mattis would leave the Trump Administration, all would leave? Well, only one remains.
Should Congressional House Democrats consider impeachment in January when they take control? Based on what is known at this point, (in my opinion) unequivocally NO.
No matter what President Trump says or does, this statement (that I made long ago) still seems to be the most relevant: The man is a pathetic person and an even worse leader.

To send you into the weekend, here’s another one from The Temptations. In the words of Garrison Keillor, Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.
Wow. Michelle Obama’s note to self is fabulous.
As for the Christmas sweaters, I used to enjoy Jimmy Fallon’s 24 days of Christmas sweater giving (does he still do that? I don’t watch anymore!)
Looking forward to the next act, though I will arrive late as it is the LAST CHRISTMAS PARTY I’m working! Wooooot!
Great tune, as per…

Dale,
Woo hoo … Someone watched the Note to Self. Yes – this one is fabulous.
Regarding Fallon – he’s quite the talent, but I don’t watch him on a regular basis (we watch Colbert). Cheers to the last Christmas Party, and this act should be an easy one! Especially compared to the previous act!

It was great. Thanks for sharing.
He is talented and I used to have the Tonight Show tape every night but found myself falling behind… I barely watch anything now. Catch snippets of most things on FB!

From the read “How Did Human Language Evolve? Scientists Still Don’t Know” by Bridget Alex, I learned that over 60 years ago and still today, linguist Noam Chomsky proposed hierarchical syntax as the key to language.
Yes, I do remember the rumors that if Kelly, Tillerson, or Mattis (or National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster) would leave the Trump Administration, all would leave and then there would be no adults left in the room.
Whether Congressional House Democrats and some of their Republican colleagues should consider impeachment in January appears to be controlled by a train that has already left the station.
Good to watch The Temptations doing one of my all-time basketball pep band favorites – “Get Ready.”
All the Onions tried too hard.

Tim,
So did any of the Onion hit or did they all miss?
Your train analogy regarding impeachment is a good one. Not only has it left the station, it has not arrived at the destination. Glad you enjoyed the language read. (I thought you would read that one)

Holly,
I made my Trump statement long ago – and wow – no matter what he does, he seems to fit. Meanwhile, I hope you stop by tomorrow to give us your song. 🙂

Sadly Trump is a disaster. See you tomorrow! 😊

Trump is a horror. I thought he would be a terrible president, but this is one area in which he’s exceeded all expectations. The more I read of Michele Obama, the more I like her. Her note to herself is wonderful.
I don’t know if it’s the same menu or not as the one in the article, but I remember seeing something similar at the Jewish Museum in Philadelphia. I read about Manischewitz when working on my food history book.

I did notice that you did not mention Trump last week. I didn’t say anything hopeing maybe you had decided to eliminate the negative aspects of life from your posts. You know my opinion of all polititions so I’ll let that horse lay unmolested. I look forward to this weeks musical. I have Post Frank Musical Stress Disorder from last week and hope the hair of the dog will cure me. I have always liked the Obama personalities so this was no surprise. She is terrific.

I can’t think of a better way to usher in the weekend than with the Temptations. Well done, Frank! I’ll be ready for tomorrow’s segment of Prounouns-the Musical. Found a couple good ones last week when failing to find something suitable to that edition. Cheers!

Cincy,
So what you’re saying is that the best of college football is over already? You’re right.
As for those sweaters, they are going to be the best sweaters in the history of Christmas sweaters. And no, they don’t came in a small.

Marc,
I’m sure you caught it, but the key to my statement is “what college football should be about” … and Army-Navy is the best rivalry to emphasizes that statement …. plus, players are much less self-centered.
Oh … you looked at the sweaters? It seems you may be the only one. If so, thank you!

Yes indeed. A rivalry in all the ways that count most. It’s a football game even the media can’t ruin.
Yeah I looked! I wanted to see what they’d go for and lemme tell you, 28 bucks? Carazy!

I’m glad you have recommended Prague Winter. I have had it on my library request list for a while now. I’ll get to it, and check out Defiant Requiem. I’m interested. I recently finished Michelle Obama’s book “Becoming,” and enjoyed it very much.
I’ll definitely make my way through all of your links. Make Christmas Great Again has got to be a good one! 🙂

Debra,
Amazing how much we continue to be on the same page. 🙂 … so I’m confident you will enjoy the Make Christmas Great Again link. It may even give you some Christmas ideas.
A bit more about Terezin. Our guide in Prague mentioned it, but because I never heard of it, it didn’t register much. But then I read about it Albright’s book …. from which I then search for anything “Terezin” on Amazon Prime, thus found Defiant Requiem … which I greatly enjoyed because it greatly enlightened me. Let me know what you think.

If I only had the chance to watch one football game each year, it would be Army/Navy. Everything good about that game. It is an inspiration.
Keep The Temps coming. Always. Great choice.

George,
There is something special when it comes to Army-Navy … especially if it’s a close game. Glad you enjoyed the Temptations. Hopefully I’ll remember to bring them back in 2019 because the next song is already decided.
