Next Concert: TBA

Excellent choice, Frank. And nice of you to leave the obvious ones for your peeps…
I am choosing one that most recognise more for being sung by her former lover, James Taylor “You’ve Got a Friend” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qde5NMy7WTU But hey, SHE wrote it!

Good evening Dale. Thought I’d surprise you with my appearance. Good choice … and there are many hits by others that she wrote. But at least you picked a version of her singing! 🙂

And what a surprise it is! I forced my own self to stay up. And of COURSE I chose a version with her singing… (thought I canna lie, I kinda prefer his version… shhhhh)

Oh Dale!!!!!!!! This was the one I was going to choose. Had it in mind since last week!!! I LIVE this song so much.
Ah….think think think….I’ll have to go and Google my heart out now to find another! You know in the 90s I heard the Brand New Heavies version. It’s so good: really funky. That’s how I came to hear it and then realised she wrote it. It’s worth a listen. Right! Off to find another!! Beautiful choice Ms. Mistress of Ceremonies ♥

That version, for years and years I thought it was the original! Then you know last week when Frank posted a video from the Divas concert… well as I said then, I watched that concert so many times in my teens and it was only then I realised who she was and that she’d written like, a billion songs that were so familiar and loved. 💜

I really love this one. In the 80s in the UK there was an advert on TV for “Real Fires” with a cat and a dog snuggling by the fireplace…I must have been about 6 or 7 but I used to sing it all the time! Tried to find a link for the ad but the video isn’t supported or some other YouTube rubbish lol.

I started listening to Carole King and following her music early in the 60s when she came out with her first single “It Might as Well Rain Until September.” She has made the music world a much better place. This is one of her classics and she included it in her “Living Room” series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCPsKuta2t8 – “So Far Away’

Cincy,
I have like . . fifty Carole King songs in tow, but for the sake of the rules . . thank goodness one is all I need. But really, King was one of my first female vocalist crushes. She left an indelible impression on so many who would follow in her footsteps.
She had stage fright, which made touring damn near impossible early in her career. Over time, she overcame it and even starred in a Broadway play decades later. What a woman!
So many choices . . but I went with one to which the weather in my locale inspired. It’s dark, wet and gloomy outside, so the classic- a Monday morning standard if ever there was one- “It’s Too Late” will abide just fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkKxmnrRVHo

Marc,
This is one of her signature songs – no doubt! I knew the part of stage fright, and I also think her voice improved over time. Meanwhile, come back tomorrow with those unused songs on your list.
