Billy Joel
The Producer’s Guidelines
- Only songs performed by Billy Joel
- No duplicate songs
- Include the song title in your introduction text so others can see it
- One song per person
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)
“We Don’t Start The Fire”
Next Concert: Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young (Date, tentatively 13th July)
Note: Songs must be credited to and performed by at least 2 of the 4
Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Elton John
I managed to stay up for ya, Frank!
And I just KNEW you would choose this song as the opener because it is perfect!
And, that also means that my favourite song is mine to submit 😉 Piano Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxEPV4kolz0

Dale,
You realize that I’m picky for my opener because I want a certain feel. Cheers to you. Piano Man is unquestionably a classic – maybe his signature song, Glad you made it to stage time, and I imagine after a Friday night shift. So … Good Morning!

Pauline,
I’ve always enjoyed Billy Joel’s versatility – and for me, this is one fits that thought. Great choice!

I have many memories of Billy Joel. Then again, when checking some of those memories on the internet, I found out that my timelines don’t quite match history. He is one of the first acts I started following and the first concert I attended.
Any how … seeing as hassling The Producer and seeing how many pounds of crushed glass I can get him chew are one of the very enjoyable side benefits of these concerts, I have the pleasure of offering, from 1969 off their second album, The Hassles’ (NB: the first recorded releases featuring Billy Joel) “Four O’ Clock In The Morning”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odolg_XunuY. To quote W. Joel’s lyrics from this song: “And I rave onto the morning for the solid tune I’ve found.”

Yahooey,
For sure, The Producer enjoys eating crushed glass. Not only did he approve the song, he passes along this interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU4PlNNMkEs

In the mid to late 1970s I had not yet embarked on a career so I did what a lot of people with mouths to feed and no job do – I managed a fast food restaurant. When the kids would clean up after closing they played the radio and this was my introduction to Billy Joel – “Movin’ Out” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nfEYV7nWc0

I’m not a huge fan of Billy Joel, but the majority of concerts seen live are enjoyable. Now I would have loved to seen Neil Diamond. With Spotify, the husband and I tend to listen to Indie bands which has opened to a whole new range of music. Every once and a while I do love the oldies.

Frank,
I love your selection, it’s perfect for dialing up this week’s concert.
It was on my short list, but I had another song in mind in honor of the US women’s soccer team which moves on to the semifinals now after beating France. “Pressure” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyv905Q2omU. Because the girls are going to be feeling some of the stuff as they close in on the hardware. Of course, they’d probably just shrug.

Excellent choice – and another one from the Golden Age of MTV music videos. The USA Women soccer team got it done yesterday – and as you mentioned, still have two more with mounting pressure.

My prediction of 2-0 came up about fifteen minutes short as France scored in the 80th minute. But still, solid showing against an excellent club. I didn’t get to watch it but I look forward to the semis.
Thank you Frank! I miss the eighties music and those videos. Lots.

Seems France gave them a lot of trouble … but hey – jumping out early is a big asset. At this level, next one also tough.

That’s what this team has, focus. They understand the importance of that lead and they’ve been successful in getting on top and then playing their game.

I remember hearing “Piano Man” on the Gene Shay folk show early 1970s, and we saw Billy Joel for about $5.00 when we in college.

Good morning Frank. Billy Joel is the piano man.h, so many good songs here. But there is one that I always sing to ther ladies (perhaps, my singing is the reason they leave).
Just The Way You Are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaA3YZ6QdJU–Are there any words more beautiful than that for a man to say to a woman?

Drew,
Definitely one of the great ballads and love songs. On the other hand, if the singing to them hasn’t worked, I have a bit of advise … don’t sing. 😉

It is a wonderful thing to have …. I think important, sexy experiences in or youth. Like Fitzgerald and Zelda in Paris, it is all part of cultural heritage. Do I make any sense?
I try, but I’m not always successful.

Long Island guy, Billy Joel, from when I lived there . A very popular singer/songwriter who many enjoyed. Sorry I missed the concert. I don’t have a favorite song by him. I mainly listened to him on the radio in the car while picking up or waiting for kids from activities. Hope to pop over for the next group concert .
