Happy October! I recently learned that from the beginning of the month to the end, Cincinnati will lose 1 hour 13 minutes of daylight. On the other hand, Cincinnatian ushered in October with a heat wave resembling July/August!

The Weekend Concert Series returns this weekend featuring Prince. Concert time is this Saturday at 1:00 AM (Eastern US). FYI: This will be the last concert until November.

After its initial appearance two years ago, BLINK Cincinnati returns next week. The Thursday-to-Sunday light extravadanza was over-the-top outstanding.

The Navy commissions a new combat ship this weekend – the USS Cincinnati. It definitely looks different from what many of us imagine. See a short video here.

Not to be outdone by the US Navy, Glade (the air freshener) develops an aerial spray. Click here for a great visual.

I know this request is contradictory to my plans, but it is an important question to ask. Do you have any ideas/requests for future beach walks? If so, let me know.

Notre Dame may score 100 this weekend when they play one of the worst teams in college football – my alma mater.

Our first ushering assign gave us a musical treat – Once On This Island, which one a 2018 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical.

Instead of addressing important issues to the country (and its people) as a whole, interesting how Congressional Democrats continue to help President Trump’s fundraising efforts.

I recently heard Kellyanne Conway defending President Trump from impeachment by saying, “Read the Constitution.” I did, and did some research including reading Federalist Papers 65 and 66. It was enlightening, but not worth writing because too many can’t get beyond their partisan lens. Simply put, Kellyanne Conway continues to do what she does best – plea to the ignorant, the misinformed, the stupid, and the partisans.

Although impeachment is not necessary about common law and related offenses, In the impeachment process, think of the House as the Grand Jury issuing an indictment. Think of the Senate as the jury members at a trial. However, in this case, the jury is already weighing in their opinion without hearing the evidence. In conclusion, Senators present the best interest of their respective political party, not the best interest of the country or the thoughts and desires of the people they serve.

To send you into the weekend, here’s an oldie I recent heard that would be good here. In the words of Garrison Keillor, Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.

  1. I’ll think about the beach walk request, Frank. And I’ll also have to think about Prince songs. My daughter was (is) such a huge fan and schooled me many times in his musical contributions, but I was never particularly interested. I’ll have to get her to help me. 🙂

    • Debra,
Regarding the beach walk request – my topics can be about anything, therefore don’t have to be just associated with the sea/beach. For instance, happiness, baseball, or the moon all thematic ideas.

  2. Amazing street artists!!!!!!! 🙂 On beach walks… that’s a hard one, as you’ve done so many wonderful topics… Wait… I think I’ve got one. How about the color of the sea/beach reflecting the clouds, in other words, color transitions. 😉 I love watching the sea changing from turquoise to dark gray when heavy clouds gather. and then you could have the …texture transitions! 😉 On …The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, I’m ready! 😉 Happy Friday, my friend! 🙂 Yamas!

  3. We’re going to see Once on This Island in the spring. I didn’t remember it is by the same duo that did Ragtime, which we’re seeing this weekend. I remember your visit to Blink. I’m hoping we can see some cool art installations in Philadelphia this week.

    • Merril,
Oh wow … I wonder if Once on This Island is the same production. Who knows. Probably not but it could be. …. I can’t recall the context, but I heard a news report this week where a Philadelphia art group/association dealing with the murals was contacted … Oh I suddenly remember – it was on a podcast. – and I recall you telling about them on multiple occasions.

    • Drew,
Ds and Rs do stumble .. especially because what they care about the most is themselves. After 5-6 days in the 90s (unusual for Cincinnati this time of year), the feel of autumn is finally in the air! … but that means the feel of winter of approaching. Damn!

  4. That is my all-time favorite George Michael song. Excellent choice. And I’m looking forward to the Prince concert. I have a song in my head I’m pretty sure no one else will choose.

“Birthday card secretly passed around office like secret CIA covert operation” – ACCURATE

    Happy weekend!

  5. Cincy,

That is a very different look for a combat ship, and I love the basketball court . . I mean helipad. It’s the fifth ship to be name for the Queen City (Johnny Bench’s old number).

I’m holding out for Glade’s Mango.

Hmmm. Alls I can think of off the top of my head is “How does meditative repose (beach walk, running, chess, music, etc) help one process their creative juices into a given talent?”

Notre Dame is out as a CFP final four possibility. It will be interesting to see if it affects their play going forward.

I feel as if the Democrats should receive a big thank you from the Trump war chest. And I’m not sure anything prevents a second term at this point.

The typical fan of Conway simply re-iterates what she already said, without feeling the need to provide any clarifications or explanations. It’s like the world’s worst ventriloquist act.

    Freedom! Yay! Prince! Double YAY!

  6. Ah, yes, Miss Conway…”Kellyanne Conway continues to do what she does best – plea to the ignorant, the misinformed, the stupid, and the partisans” and then lie through her teeth. Nothing ever changes with her-she was the same partisan hack before she began working for 45. (can you even begin to imagine the conversations of the dinner table in her house with George?)

  7. YIKES … politics. I’ve decided there’s no winning in talking to anyone about it. : (
Your creative flow will resume for your ‘Beach Walks’. I love the beach walks and also enjoy your thoughts on them.
Prince … mmmm – great songs. I’ll have to find a special one.
    Have a great weekend.

  8. Very neat about BLINK!!! The video is enchanting and entertaining.
You’ve covered a lot with your beach walk posts.
I thought hands and fingers, but you already did touch.
Still, I think hands and fingers have/feel touch, but are and do more.
    Feet touch. Hearts touch.
Hands /fingers: build sandcastles, build homes, cook, sew, paint, type, caress …

  9. I feel a bit like that chameleon! I really enjoy your beach walks. Thinking of your various talents, what about something on music and dance linked to the natural world? (Apologies if these have already been covered.)

    • Betsy,
I know that you are one who love to see the photo set I select for this series – so I appreciate your thoughts. Meanwhile, October is definitely a transition month with the normal beginning and end being different enough leading to what’s away. Then again, your SoCal weather has much less variation – therefore the reason why many love it there! 🙂

      • We definitely pay for the weather here, however. Still, it’s worth it. I would get crabby in Ohio when the days got shorter. It wasn’t until I was 21 that I realized that was happening. It’s not the reason I moved here, but a happy circumstance. 🙂
