On a Weekend Concert: Broadway

Songs from Broadway

The Producer’s Guidelines

  1. Only songs from Broadway musicals
  2. Clearly identify the song title and the Broadway musical so others can see it
  3. Only one song per musical (Exception: For participants who have submitted their show entry, other songs from a submitted musical may be placed in the comment string for that musical)
  4. No duplicate songs
  5. One song per person on Day 1 (except for the extras in the comment string), unlimited on Day 2 – but only new musicals
  6. To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no  apologies are necessary)

Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)

“Underground” (Memphis: The Musical)

Next Concert: Duets – (Either 4th or 11th January) It will be the last in this series. Songs must feature two performers who normally don’t work together. (Simon & Garfunkel would get the buzzer, but James Brown with Gloria Estefan fits)

Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Elton John, Billy Joel, Crosby Stills Nash & Young (the group), Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Journey, Prince, Guess Who, James Brown, Gloria Estefan

  1. And here I was worried you’d take my selection…I had nothing to worry bout as I don’t know this very groovy one…I love it!
My choice is more of a classic, I fear. Les Miserables, the song choice is “Bring Him Home” and in this case, I know the singer so I had to use him… no ifs, ands or buts 😉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNE4d27YHQs I chose this Rosie O’Donnell coz, there were no Broadway productions of it in English that I could find.

  2. Good morning, Frank! Well, you know this is a Frank Angle concert for me! Here’s Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin performing a concert version “Move On” from Sunday in the Park with George at the celebration for Stephen Sondheim (everybody bow) for his 80th birthday. You could choose any performance from this concert. Sunday in the Park with George is about the artist Georges Seurat and his famous painting: A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLI4jelnYAI

    • Merill,

Good morning to the Birthday Weekend Lady! I’m proud to be hosting the perfect concert for you on this weekend. Let’s just say this concert is for you, and it just happens to be your birthday weekend.

I wondered what song you would submit, but I did know you have a wide assortment to consider. I imagine narrowing down your choices wasn’t easy. Meanwhile, love you choice … and with those two stars … wow! Thanks you!!!!

    • Don’t know this musical, at all. Will head over and listen to your song, as soon as I post mine.
However, I did have the joy of working with Mandy Patinkin in a Showtime movie about the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings.
He was so fabulous. I’ll never forget him. Sometimes he would sing to me on set, while we we waiting for camera. What a treat and an honour!

  3. My first choice was West Side Story. I knew many would pick that one because it was popularized. I went to the movies to see West Side Story with my hubby on our 1st date. Lots of memories there along with super great songs.
There are way, way too many broadway musicals I found it difficult to pick just one. However, having been in ‘All That Jazz’ (off broadway – small theater) and having fond memories of the rush of the show I chose it.This video is a broadway compilation of scenes from Bob Fosse musicals: Chicago, Sweet Charity and Cabaret. There’s nothing like Broadway. The music – The dancing – The stories …

    Enjoy …!!! Isadora 😎

  6. Holy. cow. I cannot believe the number of Broadway fans out there! It took forever to get to the end. Not being a big fan of musicals I wasn’t sure about whether I could come up with anything but then I went back to the old hippie days and remembered revival of Hair, the Musical. How about Aquarius, Let the Sunshine In and found this medley from the Letterman Show. Happy Sunday. And congrats on your fantasy football team. https://youtu.be/J5Jk30-1kKI
