Duets
The Producer’s Guidelines
- Only songs by duets
- “Duets” defined as two performers who normally don’t perform together (Simon & Garfunkel is not a duet for this musical)
- No duplicate songs
- No duplicate duets (but a performer may be in a different duet)
- One song per person on Day 1 (except for the extras in the comment string), unlimited on Day 2 – but only new musicals
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)
PS Note: Type the duet in ALL CAPS (which is help others identify the duets used)
“Beer For My Horses” (TOBY KEITH & WILLIE NELSON) (Music starts at 0:58)
Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Elton John, Billy Joel, Crosby Stills Nash & Young (the group), Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Journey, Prince, Guess Who, James Brown, Gloria Estefan, Broadway
This is the last in the series. Thank you!
Really, Frank? Really? You have to take MY choice? I cannot believe you! What were the chances! Sigh. I shall have to let it slide as it’s the last… I’m just jesting…
Imma go with something way out there, coz who’d a thunk EMINEM & ELTON JOHN would ever collaborate? Here is “Stan” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM74R9z7W4A

Dale,
Oh wow on your choice. Yes, an unlikely combination, but it works!
Of all the duets, you are up late for me to take yours. Never would imagined that! Three were the finalists for my opener: this one, the one Gary used, and the one I will give you.

Me too! But yanno, I happened to catch Ellen when she talked about all the brouhaha of her sitting next to him and pointed out again that when she says be kind to one another, she means it. Politics have nothing to do with their friendship. Kudos to her.. I love her.
LikeLiked by 1 person
She walks the talk, unlike too many peeps who insist we “appreciate the differences” in each other before railing on them.
I have always loved her. I loved her stand up and then she went ‘mainstream’ with her sitcom, but she made it work.
LikeLiked by 1 person
She really does.
Same here. The hell she went through to get to where she is today has not coloured her negatively whatsoever. If anything, it has made her shine all the more brightlly.

That show would have been on the air longer if not for the coming out episode. Sponsors really gave the producers hell over it, which is hilarious when you consider that some of those same sponsors now claim to be so supportive of LGBT.
But you’re right, Ellen was never bitter about any of it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That show would have, for sure. Talk about hypocritical today, eh?
The ones who move past their shit and keep smiling are the ones I admire the most. Say what you want about Oprah, she overcame and then some. And you don’t often see her railing on the negative.

Woah! Nothing like a good apple. Apples if I am hungry.
Which reminds me, in my anorexic youth, I went on an apple diet. I lived in Vancouver. I ate about 10apples a day, drank herbal teas and that was it!

Most anorexics I know prefer to eat candy and chips and other shit like that. Maybe that was your saving grace… not that there is much in an apple but way more than in Doritos…

Yes, it took awhile to break the glamorous bonds of looking like a rescue from a concentration camp.
I never liked candy, chips, etc. I was always into healthy food, when I ate.
Still, I can akin it to quitting smoking…. it’s always a lure.
Now, older, but just as stupid, I look in the mirror and say, “that’s it! I’m going on a diet.”
LOVE dieting.
However, then I look at my face and say, “being thin will not restore my youth.”

The really sick part is the fan worship… women (not men) would come up to me and drool about my thinness… a sick worship of sorts.
I am now 130. I got up to 140 several years ago, and dieted back down to 110.
I’m trying to avoid that now, and be happy to be normal.

If your Producer accepts my long held view that a “song” doesn’t necessary have to have words, you’ll get a smile from watching this 1978 video of my two all-time favorite violinists, Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, getting together to play some duets. I remember being quite thrilled with Ebony and Ivory when it first came out. Thank you! I laughed at Tom Jones and Janis together. I’ll bet this wasn’t her idea, but a managers. I don’t think it was in his comfort zone, either. But I thought it was funny that I felt like I emotionally bounced between feeling quite young with memories of that time, and then when I thought about it more, I felt like I was 100 years old. LOL! This was fun, though, Frank. Thank you!
